Batman: Arkham Asylum 2.0

Bought this game in the discount bin a few months ago and I have just got around to playing it. I'm about 30% through the game and it definitely has its ups and downs. The game has good graphics, good story, and plenty of extras. However, I have a few gripes with the controls and the Unreal tournament flaccid deaths, but otherwise it's a solid game. I like the twisted levels when facing Scarecrow...they really brought me back to Eternal Darkness.

the Scarecrow scenarios were my favorite parts of the game

If you haven't played it yet, Eternal Darkness for the GameCube is The Scarecrow Scenarios x 1000. It was probably one of the best games on the GameCube.

I just finised playing through this game for the first time and was wondering how to get 100%. I already got all of the Riddler's riddles, including Arkham's last recording. Do I have to play all those challenge modes at least once?

Play them and beat them. Complete all the little tasks in them, like earning a certain amount of points in the fighting ones, and doing all the stealthy moves to take out the thugs in the stealth missions.

Thanks!

Yeah, it's half the reason why I gave up getting 100% on it... I grew tired of that stuff.

the challenges are the only difficult part of the game, and they force you to learn to play at a skill level far above what the story mode requires. I didn't realize how deep the gameplay truly was until I aced em all.

Only the combat challenges were hard. I gave up on that. I could always beat them, but never get over 2 bats on most of them.

I done aleast 71% of the challenges. Some of the very hard to do.

The hardest Combat Challange for me was the 3rd one I think. The one were you only have 4 thugs to begin with and somehow have to get 30,000 points. The last challenges were way easier because you have more thugs to rack up combos. It took me 2 weeks to complete the challanges. Still the only Platinum Trophy I have.

I loved the combat challenges. You really have to learn the way the combat is played in this game to be successful. The combat is definitely not a button masher, its a slow, thinking way of fighting. You have to look ahead what is going to happen after you hit one dude, are you able to hit another one or are you going to have counter, dodge, etc. It's a brilliant combat system and my favorite out of any game ever made.

Yeah, I'll mess around with the challenge modes but I don't plan on getting 100%. Maybe when I was younger I would have gotten 100% but it's a waste of time now.

.. for this piece, I was mainly trying to figure out (along with EIDOS and Rocksteady) a style in which we could do the 'bio' character shots....initially, Eidos wanted a more 'stenciled' look, much more 'high contrast' and rough, but at the end they went for a more rendered approach... these illustrations themselves were never used in the game, they were just used to figure out the 'look' for the bio-images.

I did a buuuuunch of different armor ideas for Batman (I wasn't sure how it was going to be used in-game 'till it came out)... this is the third of fourth batch of ideas I did.... I believe this is pretty close to the final version.... I LOOOVE the way the talented Sculptors over at Rocksteady modeled this one!!!

Woah. Is that the design they went with? It looks better drawn than in game...

Yeah, I don't HATE the design in the game but Batman's look gives me an Alex Ross vibe... and I am no fan of Alex Ross.

Has anyone posted this new trailer yet? Apologies if it's already up - I couldn't see it anywhere.

Looks awesome - I know there's no in-game shots in this, but it's a brilliant intro nonetheless.

Out of curiosity has anyone achieved "Perfect Knight" for Arkham Asylum on either 360 or PS3 ?

I haven't yet I'm currently stuck with completing both the regular Shock and awe plus the extreme version to achievement for 360 in order to get "Prefect Knight".

I'm going to attempt to unlock this achievement before I get Arkham City .

Yeah, I got everything in Arkham Asylum...but on PC. Didn't have a PS3 at the time, so no trophies.

Now this gamer is truly a maniac with the free flow combat system . I can't seem to get past 50 critical strikes before for those bloody lunatics on me .

Batman Arkham Asylum: Totally Insane Challenge

I've gotten 100% on the regular game and on the game of the year edition for 360. The combat system is easily the greatest combat system ever in a game, easy to learn hard to master. It's all about slowing your pace down, this is by no means a button masher, gotta be looking ahead thinking about what your next move is going to be and then pretty soon you'll be rocking 90-100 hit combos easily.
