I have this game & it's really fun so I expect

to be fun.

Probably in the minority but I think Hugo Strange is a much better villain than the joker.
Whoever voices him as well seem to do a fantastic job.

So I finally got a PS3 for christmas along with Batman Arkham Asylum. I'm only about 4% into the game but I've come across a part that I just can't seem to get past. you're mission is to locate and rescue three people, so there's three hallways you have to follow in three different directions to get to them. I completed the first two, but then there's the last one where you have to turn right. there's a bunch of guards in a room with a gun pointed at a woman. you have use your explosive gel to blow up a wall, jump in and save her, if you take to long she gets shot and you have to start over again. simple enough, but every time I apply the explosive to the wall, it cuts an angle from the other side of the wall as it explodes in slow motion and I can't do anything because it's a cut scene. but the way the camera is placed I can't see anything in the room, because the camera stays only shows that one angle of me standing there, and batman never seems to react fast enough for me to do anything, and the woman gets shot. it's incredibly frustrating. anybody else encounter this problem, or even remember this part for that matter? if so, some tips would be much appreciated.

You'll need to put the explosive gel on both breakable walls and detonate them at the same time to take out all the guards holding her hostage. Don't worry it happen to me to where I had no clue how to stop them until I realized there was an extra wall to use.

hey thanks man, it took me a few tries to find which side the other wall was on before she got shot, but I got it eventually. I just got to what I guess is a boss fight with bane. Died once so I decided to take a break and try it again tonight. and holy sh** was that scarecrow level awesome. finally somebody realized the visual potential of a batman villain. I mean don't get me wrong, I love the nolan movies, but common, a man in a fancy suit and a burlap sack over his head?

alrighty, another question for somebody that's beaten the game: I'm at about 21% (I don't play religiously enough to beat it in a few days, I'm trying to take my time so as to really enjoy it). So I'm chasing Harley Quinn through the part of Arkham with all the cells, and the joker has released all the mental patients to throw me off. I just saved two security guards who were dangling over electrified water from a joker gas bomb (just to give you a clearer picture of where I'm at in the game). Anyway, the part that's got me hung up if this arena style fight with the jokers goons. I'm in this room with a glass chamber over looking it (with Harley Inside) while a bunch of goons come out to fight me. That's not the problem, the problem is that the floor has this nasty habit of electrocuting me every couple of minutes. While the fighting isn't an issue, I keep dying because of the electric floors. I try to look around to see if there's a spot in the rafters I can zip line to escape shock, but there doesn't seem be any where for me to go. I'm probably missing something. any tips?

Yeah, go to the area to the side of you. You're in the middle. There is an area to the right side and one to the left. When the middle one gets electrified, you have to go to the other. Same thing when that happens to the other. Come back to the middle one.

thanks man, I thought they all electrified at the same time, I probably missed it because I never really deactivate the detective mode function so I only see the environment in static blue lol.

My schedule is finally a bit free meaning I can catch up on a lot of now-old quality games. I've owned this for so long (bought way too many games at once in 2009) and not got round to it but buying Arkham City has finally prompted me to go through and beat them both in one go. So far it's excellent...I'm up to the Poison Ivy bit. No superhero games ever have excuses anymore. Really can't wait to get to Arkham City.

I heard a lot of people do that so they never miss anything but it affects my enjoyment of the game to have it on when it's not needed. I will probably enable it much more when I go back to sweep everything I've missed.

I've found that if you leave Detective Mode on all the time, you actually do miss some things that you'd see better with it off. It's a tool that should only be used when needed.

On another topic, do you guys know how if there's a way to see which achievements you've earned and which ones you still need? I've been all over the menus and can't find a thing.

Thanks!

hit the guide button and then move over the left one tab and right there it should say achievements

Thanks for the quick response! I'm at work now, but I'll check this out when I get home tonight.

Yeah, it has a history of all your games played in order of most recent to oldest with the total gamerscore to the right. If you click on an individual game it lists the achievements you've earned in the order you got them and below that is the achievements you haven't got yet (coloured out).

Sorry -- I wasn't talking about Xbox Live or any of the online leaderboards. My console isn't wired up for that. I just meant on the game itself, when trying to achieve 100%.

There should still be a tab once you press the guide button for achievements whether your online or not. The game itself doesn't have an achievement menu, most retail games do not.

You know, I found AA to be more challenging in the problem solving area. I spent more time and had more fun trying to figure stuff out which resulted in a better gaming experience for me than in AC.

Now while I love AC and all the upgrades and improvements, I find it somewhat boring in the challenges and detective/problem solving aspect. The main campaign is shorter in AC (it feels to me) also.

I'm done with the campaign and am now spending so much time grappling and gliding looking for Riddler trophies and Riddles and idk, I'm just not having much fun doing that... Anyone else feel this way?

It's not to do with Live or leaderboards. Every XBox account has a list of all games played and achievements earned in those games in the achievements tab accessed through the Guide button. Edit: Like jacobed said, most retail games don't have an in game menu for achievements.

I found the Riddler trophies more fun in Asylum. So far haven't felt like finding all the ones in City, partly because there are so many!

The riddler trophies in AC are a lot better overall due to the riddler rooms they unlock. They're also more varied in how you actually obtain them.
