Wait...what? Why isn't Sorkin voicing Harley....it's literally her character. So strange.

Dont know, but she isnt coming back. Im assuming it was a disagreement over money, or a scheduling conflict.

Dang, I meant Tara is great as Harley.
Yeah, we don't know why yet, but Sorkin gave her approval to Tara's performance.
Because what i want from Tara Strong's talent is being a poor man's Harley Quinn.
I think this is nitpicking based on the little we've seen so far. If I didn't know Tara was doing her voice, I would say for sure that Sorkin was reprising her role.
We can hardly tell the difference so far.

There's nothing wrong with Strongs performance. Bat nerds just want to b***h, at anything.

She sounds great, can't wait to play the full thing

I concur. After hearing her in that demo I would swear that was Sorkin doing the voice.

A different voice actor will not in any way prevent me from enjoying the **** out of this game. I don't see what the big deal is

Yeah I really couldn't tell the difference. If I didn't know about the change I would of still thought it was Sorkin.

Same here. I wouldn't have noticed any difference it people hadn't made a big deal about it.

Yeah, I different voice actor for the main character didn't stop Infamous 2 from being a great game so I get why some people are basing the quality of the game on the voice of a secondary character.

hey guys, I haven't been following the development much.......but is Arkham City a direct sequel to Arkham Asylum? And, do I need to play Asylum before City?

For example, will anything import or carry over from the 1st game to this game, or are they totally separate?

Yes, it's a sequel. I doubt there will be any kind of import feature, but you never know! And you don't "need" to play it, but you should if only because it's an awesome game.

It's a direct sequel to Arkham Asylum and I highly recommend that you get the first game and play it because it's well worth it .

Yea, as the others have said, nothing will import over, but theres no excuse for not playing through Arkham Asylum prior to playing AC.

I'd also recommend reading the Arkham City mini series by Dini. It bridges the gap between AA and AC.

Here's something interesting

Q&A with Rocksteady: The Art department

1.jpeg

• What is your role within Rocksteady?

I’m a 3D props artist.

• How long have you worked at Rocksteady?

I have worked here since November 2008, which makes it almost three years.

• What made you want to work here?

I was studying 3d graphics in Sweden and part of the course was to become an intern at a games company. I had only heard a few things about Batman : Arkham Asylum and only seen a few screenshots from it in various magazines, but what I had seen made me really interested and I thought it would be fun to work on things connected to the Batman universe.

• What is your day to day like?

Normally my days start with a big cup of strong coffee. After that I check my schedule and boot up 3d studio max and start working on making some sweet assets. I sit next to some really good friends of mine, so we normally chat about random stuff, joke around and give each other feedback on what we are working on at the moment.

• Describe Arkham City

It’s a really dark, hostile and oppressive place where the guards are even more messed up than the inmates. Seeing as I have worked on Batman : Arkham City for the full length of the project, I have seen it go from just an idea to an actual place where you can fly around and kick peoples asses.

• If you could share anything about your experience working on the game, what would it be?

It has been a pretty awesome experience, especially seeing as this is my first job in the industry. Since I’m a prop artist, I get to make a LOT of different stuff, ranging from just simple boxes to massive signs, weapons and statues. The variety keeps me from feeling I’m doing the same thing over and over again, which is really important for your creative process.

Actually, there is an import. I believe if you've played Arkham Asylum, you can carry over a general sense of awesomeness and achievement and then apply that to Arkham City... Pretty cool, huh?

:awesome:

If AC turns out to be as great as it looks like iut will be, I think people who played AA will appreciate it more given on how they managed to improve something that was already pretty great. I also think there will be more of a familiarity to the gameplay style and controls if you've already played AA, so it will make it a smoother transition into the game.

I don't think there's anything wrong with *****ing about wanting Sorkin. Same how I wouldn't see anything wrong with people *****ing about wanting Hamil back. Or Conroy.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting any of them back, but I think a lot of the fans that end up complaining the most tend to judge things before seeing the final product and the overly dramatic ones make it seem like some great travesty was just done.

Well...I'm sure it's almost personal for some. Conroy, Hamil...Sorkin. They've been the voices of these characters from childhood to adulthood for alot of people.

It's why bringing some of the BTAS stuff works and can bite back too. In bringing Dini, Conroy, Hamil, and Sorkin with the first one...they're making it a reunion of sorts, and that gets BTAS fans (who isn't one, really?) wanting things, and then complaining when they don't get it.

Sorkin being in the first and not being in this one stings more for people. I don't really know how to feel about it all when they're getting someone to pretend to be her in this sort of way.

But this isnt Batman: The Animated Series.

Sorkin doesnt own that character, the same way Hamil or Conroy dont own Joker and Batman.

If the actor does a good job(which it appears that Strong is doing) it doesnt matter who is behind the character.

Hamil said this would be his last outing as The Joker, too. :csad: If that's true, and Rocksteady makes a third game...ouch.

I'm have to agree with Bale on this one. Conroy is Batman in the animated universe of Batman, Hamil is the joker, and Sorkin is Harley and Batman rocksteady franchise is a extention of that. I'm still gonna buy the game but eventually there is going to come a point when the Harley voice isn't going to sound right and I'm gonna say where is Sorkin.

Mark clarified this, he didn't say it was his last. Just really hard to top.
