Batman: Arkham Knight

Playing through this for the 3rd time(using that awesome BvS suit) and its the small things that'll ill miss the most if this series truly is over(I don't think it is). The simple details that make you feel like the damn Batman.

Im tracking one of Cobblepots thugs and im just standing on a building overlooking Gotham as I watch their car and listen to their conversation and as the car rounds a corner i break out into a sprint and dive off the side of the building and as im half way down i hit that glide and start soaring over the city while tracking the thugs every movement. Like thats the stuff you never put on the back of the box, but its just so damn epic. The tag line couldnt of been more fitting, Be the Batman is goddamn right.

While Origins isn't my favorite of the series(that honor goes to Asylum), I do find it ironic how much flak people give WBM for it, when they managed to do villains like Bane and Deathstroke justice compared to how Rocksteady handled them. I mean, Slade's appearance in Knight was just insulting.

I've heard about them working on two upcoming DC games. I'm guessing one of them is a Suicide Squad game if Origins' ending is anything to go by. But I'd also like for them to do another Arkham prequel game. This one could feature Harvey Dent's transformation into Two-Face, Enigma officially becoming Riddler, Black Mask's mask getting stuck to his face. As well as more lessor known villains that haven't been used in this series yet. Such as Scarface & The Ventriloquist, Maxie Zeus, David Cain, Roxy Rocket and Ratcatcher.

WBM nailed so many things in Origins. Gets way too much hate and flack. Also flack for glitches and being broken. Meanwhile I never had any glitches but one minor audio issues a couple of times, that's it. Since the Christmas season is upon us as well right now I think it's time to hit up origins again.

This is going to be random, but I really would like an open world batman that has almost like a long Halloween storyline that last a year long. I'd love for gotham to feel a little more like a real city rather than what we got in the arkham franchise. Dont get me wrong i love this franchise and the city created for the games, but I'd like a Gotham that maybe feels like a gta/assassins creed mix styled city that feels alive.

I'd like a more investigative story with more detective work and gameplay that involves busting heavy hitting crime lords and encountering some characters for the first time and maybe less of batmans villains. I'd like the smallness and personalness to feel like BTAS almost. The fighting can be flashy, but maybe less gadgets and have it feel different than free flow. Idk, just had to put these random thoughts out there. Lol

How would that work with side quests? Would everything in "summer" have to be done before "fall" or would they carry over?

For that matter, would time of day change and would that affect anything with Batman (operating in daytime severely penalizes you in predator mode, for example)?

I guess the main quest would carry the over all side quest over into any season. They could be completed at any time durig any season.

As far as night time game play goes, i guess if you are playing free roam it could have about a 4 hr real time clock that simulated 8hrs of night time. At the 4 hr mark (if the player has played the game for 4 hrs straight, then it could auto cycle through daytime or even give the okayer a chance be Bruce wayne and review the current missions/evidence, train, collect revenue, be "matches malone" or whatever and also have the option to auto cycle the day maybe.

Origins could have been so much better than it was. They forced a release date on them because they had Knight planned to be out less than a year later. But that game got delayed twice and that time could have been spent still working on Origins.

D'OH!

There was nothing wrong with Origins from a gaming standpoint. Its story and gameplay was fine. The only thing pushing the release date could have improved was polishing it up bc it did have glitches and bugs but those have since been fixxed. Anyone who would have picked it up months later or now would have a well made product

It's a glitchy mess for me when I still play it from time-to-time. The story was okay and gameplay was barley average. Certainly could have been much more polished and had more content.

I like the love Origins gets here, it is a great game.
Story is a bit wonky and tries too hard to fit into the arkham timeline, its a bit like citys story in terms of that the overall villian is not who we thought...but otherwise it had a lot of good things.

Sadly my game has a bug with the martial artists, they stop sometimes when they attack me, the counter icon appears but they dont attack...thats why my combo always gets stopped when i fight them.
Its sad because they are my favorite enemy types of the series.

I really hope WBM does a new one, preferable with a The Long Halloween inspired story.

There was. Wonky traversing, level design, phoned-in enemy placement and predator levels.

But now, after Knight, it doesn't look as bad as it looked after Asylum and City.

WBM would knock it out of the park doing Two Face's origin. Dent badly needs to be done justice. Like with Bane he's been grossly mishandled by Rocksteady, and needs WBM to give him his due like they did with Bane.

This.

I disagree. I never had a problem with any of those. I loved them all. In fact the Deadshot encounter is probably the best predator level of all the games, IMO.

But now, after Knight, it doesn't look as bad as it looked after Asylum and City.

It never looked bad even before it Knight. Knight just makes me appreciate the previous games even more, because they all feel like much better Batman experiences and games in comparison.

I've still not played it yet, I own it on PC & I'd read such horrendous reviews about it's performance I decided to wait a little till they addressed the issues, which to be fair they have been doing as I've been downloading patches for it every few weeks.

Looking forward to playing it though, looks epic.

None of that is accurate. Level design was as good as previous games, save for maybe Asylum. Enemy placement was as challenging as they were in the previous 2 games and the predator levels were some of the most well crafted in the series to that point. You just lack the skill to identify good or bad design as a whole.

Not to mention that Cold Cold Heart was the best DLC any of the games got. Period.

And hell yes to this  that DLC is just amazingly well done. The best in the series without question.

Easily. It's not even close. Cold Cold Heart is in a class of it's own as far as DLCs go for these games.

Rocksteady went out with a rather soulless bang on the DLC front.
I think they're overconfidence in the game being the biggest thing since sliced bread clouded they're creative judgement.

Karma may have hit their cockyness

I think it has.
They set up a gorgeous-looking game and kudos for that achievement...and while it's a great experience to mingle with that aspect of the world, almost every execution to the gamesl fails and this leaves me driving and fighting for about 15 minutes before I end up becoming bored...the DLC has zero replayability factor...
Overconfidence, cockyness, misplaced focus and dare I say, despite the work and detail - laziness...these things are what damaged the game.

I was a big Negative Nelly with Origins when it came out. But when I replayed it last year, and got 99% plus all medals for Deathstroke and Batman, I changed my tune real quick. Really a wonderful game.

Now while I haven't played Knight, and it maybe a while, from all I've read and seen, it looks to just not live up to its hype. Too much batmobile, not enough boss fights, a gimmick villain. Even from where I am, I can tell which game is looking to be better.
