Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 1

I don't get the fascination with Karl Urban's "scowl" from Dredd. He looks like grumpy cat to me.

Out of all the names bandied about here, I still think Jake Gyllenhaal is the clear choice. He's old enough that he could still pass for an experienced Batman, but not too old that he won't be able to do the role for 3 movies and possibly another JL movie. He's dedicated and would get ripped for the role, he's a dynamic actor with lots of range.

I am kind of interested in the Ryan Gosling idea too, mainly because he has more stature than Jake, and I think he could potentially be good as well.

Still better than Affleck stupid NiteOwl suit in Justice League.
Man
That suit was ****. :funny:
The cowl was easily the worst part.
It was ugly and was too tight on Affleck’s fat face

I think Reeves should pick who he likes best not a bunch of fancasts. If he doesn't think these guys fit they shouldn't be in the running.

I think Gyllenhaal is the only one who could do the role. Or Gosling as you mentioned. Heck a Gyllenhaal as Batman and Gosling as Joker might give a Bale/Ledger run for their money.

I think Gosling is only an inch taller than Gyllenhaal, but yeah he does seem a lot larger.

The only thing that bugs me is Jake's voice... It's boyish. Not as boyish as Tobey Maguire's but enough for me to know he'll need a voice modulator for Batman...

I think they'll easily sort that, though.

Well duh. I don't think anyone here legitimately sees this thread as any sort of audition process. It's just something to keep us entertained until the real news hits.

The sad part is I think Clooney could have delivered an amazing Bruce and Batman if things had been different

He already was a decent Bruce imo, just not a good Batman. The overall quality of the movie didn't help, either.

He was too "smiley" as Bruce... Anybody notice in nearly every scene as Bruce he smiles? Still, I thought he was decent as Bruce. As Batman? Giving it was supposed to be the final metamorphosis of Keaton's character, sacrificing the darkness, the low voice, etc., he was what he was... And I thought he was alright :funny:

Like Keaton, Clooney would be a great Luthor.

I remember reading an article in Forbes between MOS and BVS that was discussing actors that might be cast as Lex Luthor. Clooney was one of the names that was mentioned. I don’t know if the writer was just speculating or if he has actually heard rumors that they were pursuing him but that would have been SO much better than what we got with Eisenberg.

Oh come on Sawyer you have been here long enough to know the truth. You know exactly what will happen as soon as someone that Reeve's likes but the fans dont happens. Half the SHH/twitter world will burn the whole thing to the ground. Which is a lot of fun to watch but still ;)

All you need to do is question someone on their choice...when you do so the reactions are priceless and oftentimes a bit scary :)

It's possible Turner is too old for Bond by the time they're ready for Bond 26.

Turner is 36 years old. If he started Bond at 41, stayed healthy off screen, he has at least 15 years worth which easily puts out a trilogy or 4 movies.

Look at Craig, he was 38 in CR and looked amazing, even Skyfall he looked good - whatever happened in Spectre, he just looked puffy and uncomfortable.

I really like Hamm for the role but i feel he wouldn't do the fitness regime and then look 'off' to me - i kind of wish they went the route with Josh Brolin instead of Batfleck - he would be a great older, rugged Bruce. Actually, he could have been a great Bruce had Bale not stepped up. Batfleck in JL was just phoning it in for the majority - makes me wonder how he did in the snyder shot scenes.

Anyways, my nod for the next bruce... i'd love a return to the Keaton era with Luke Evans

I think the problem with Batfleck is that he is too big, i know it's comic accurate, but the suits in the comics are high tech wafer thin, looks almost like a kevlar/spandex mash up - where as the costumes on set are naturally bulky, padding, fibre glass panels etc which adds to the bulk and it just makes him look huge in comparison to the cast around him, that's why RDJ looks good in the 'suit' as he is naturally slender - so someone a little more, svelte, but ripped, with subtle lifts in the shoes will give a more aesthetic look - also, the art of being a ninja is subtlety.

Clooney survived B&R. Pretty shocking because at the time he was only known as a tv actor. Chris O'Donnell's career practically died after B&R

It's kinda funny that Affleck was the tallest at 6'2. And it showed on screen. He was really BIG. A huge difference than 5'9 Michael Keaton playing the role.

Gyllenhaal is 5'11, but he appears on screen to look taller.

I'm surprised at that because I always thought he was taller than 5'11.

You’re the first person I’ve seen say he looks taller :funny:
I see a lot of people say he’s too short.
Which is ridiculous.
5'11 is pretty average. But most expect to see 6'2/6'3 guys playing superheroes. Which you won't find many talented actors that height.

Years ago I thought Gyllenhaal was 6'1 or so. He certainly looks tall in films.
