Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 1

The guy from Mindhunter didn't really impress me as an actor. Felt like all of his dialogue was a little too "theatrical", like it felt like he was reading a cue card or something. Something about his diction just didn't feel natural to me.

Oh Jesus Christ.

If they do go with a younger Batman then I am still sticking with Gyllenhaal but Hammer he would be my 2nd choice but another choice I definitely would go with would be Luke Evans

Why Luke Evans? Not only can he act but at the same time I think he would be able to hit the notes not only of Bruce Wayne but also having that raw intensity/rage that Batman should have but the question is is can he do an American accent

Luke Evans has not impressed me yet. Not a single performance or character has stuck out.

Hammer isn't playing the role. Unless he's flat out lying, I think WB and Reeves would have had meetings with him by now if they wanted him as Bats.

Then that leaves Gyllenhaal as the favorite and honestly who can argue Gyllenhaal at this point

Hopefully, there will be more scenes with Ben in the Bat-Gym, please... and get that other, errmm, strange man involved as well))

People with bad taste apparently, who will risk losing a great dynamic actor in favor of somebody who "looks the part".

Imagine if Nolan had that mentality. We would've never gotten Heath Ledger.

Or Bale, to be fair. The movie he did right before BB was The Machinist.

There’s been way too much concern about ‘looking the part’ in recent years, and not enough ‘playing the part.’ Batfleck may have looked nigh on perfect, but the character was way off the mark. Same goes for Cavill. Only Gadot both looks the part and has the right character... and oh look... what a surprise... she’s the only successful one.

I could give two rosy ****s about how comic accurate the Batsuit is, if the Batman himself ain’t right.

The only thing that throws Gyllenhaal off for me is his voice, and I'd rather they not use the voice synthesizer again.

Otherwise, he'd look great in a Breyfogle/Aparo/Adams-style cowl.

I agree with you here. His voice is also a concern for me, and, to be honest, i'm not sure how he'd look in a cowl. He has a very youngish boyish face.

The movie before that was Equilibrium, which was practically an audition reel for Batman. He wasn't much of an out-of-box choice even back then, he had a growing following itching for his casting (me included).

That's more on the writers and directors, to be fair. Even though I'm 100% behind recasting everyone except Gal, I still maintain both Ben and Henry could have fulfilled their potentials of being the best portrayals of their respective roles yet.

Isaac is a top talent, but he seems a bit too slight to play Batman to me. I'm not usually hung up on height but I've seen too many movies where people tower over him.

If freaking Keaton with his joe schmoe looking self with Burton's sweaty, hide in the background and be awkward take on public Bruce Wayne can still produce a highly praised version of Batman/Wayne I'm not seeing the issue with Oscar here.

Height is not his problem.

Affleck is not a good enough actor to be the best version of any character. Lol.

Affleck is a limited, bland actor. His gift lies in directing.

He's no Robert De Niro or Al Pacino, but Neither is JG. Affleck has provided some solid acting here and there, BvS happens to be one of those in my opinion.
