Gravitas and Ben Affleck don't go together.
On occasion, they do.
Gravitas and Ben Affleck don't go together.
I'd accept a Neal Adams length

I just don't want that Kelley Jones/Tim Sale s***.
Not true. We see him as public Wayne in three key scenes. Plenty of time to showcase it.
I do have to wonder how much of the love for Affleck has to do with his physical approximation to the comic books, both in and out of the suit.
In terms of characterization though, I truthfully don't get it. He was bloodthirsty in BvS and borderline incompetent in JL - neither of which meets my criteria for a "definitive" Batman.
Take away the superficial physical stuff and he's largely been a non-factor in the role.
Lmao. You're right. It's the same look in his eye as Batman. That's because Affleck always has the same look in his eye.
How would you guys feel about two different Batmen? One for the teamups, and one for the solos?
I could be wrong, but I feel like it'll be hard enough to sign Gyllenhaal for Reeves' trilogy, let alone all the teamup movies that WB will want Batman in.
Sooo true. Smug is the perfect way to describe Damon and Affleck on and off screen. And it's the only thing they know how to do well because it's basically who they are in real life. His attempts at subtlety is like watching someone trying to release a silent fart and then be satisfied with themselves after discovering that not only did no one hear it but that it doesn't even stink.
He's just that awfully smug all the way thru and I wanna dropkick him right in that ass he calls a chin, for it.
If his Batman/Bruce Wayne had absolutely zero lines, It would've improved his performance dramatically. But Ben is also an actor who can't act with his eyes, so maybe not.
Where has it been a problem for any of their current signed cast? Affleck was signed to "just" three and he checked out after two. I'd be much more worried about keeping these actors interested and engrossed in their roles for the long run. Locking them down is of no value if they're not delivering to their full capabilities.I think they need to take a page out of Marvel's playbook and sign the next actor to a six-film deal. Whether or not they decide to exercise the entirety of that contract is up to WB, but that way they have the actor locked down for three solos and three team-ups should they decide to do that.
That's part of the problem here. They want to create a shared universe as big and expansive as Marvel's, but they're only signing their actors to three-film deals. It's not cutting it.

Affleck signed to three, but he only ever wanted to play this character his way. Which was Zack's vision of the character. He never signed up for goofy Whedon Bats or even Nolan style bats. He was down for this middle aged, grumpy version and so it doesn't surprise me that he would check out once critics and even fans stopped caring/showing up. He couldn't do the solo film his way so he gave it up and the studio didn't seem to care for that script either.
There were reports that the studio wanted to rewrite the script, which they did. They didn't care for the direction it was going in with Deathstroke. Ben couldn't make the Batman and direct it at the same time, which is what he wanted to do (or maybe he was pressured into it by the studio). Are you kidding me? This isn't even a rumor, just opinion by you. Come on, man. I know you have a severe dislike for Affleck but you can't just make crap up.
