Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 1

I just hope that when we get our first look at the actor playing Batman in-costume, it's not another instance of that black-and-white, slumped-shoulders, mopey-looking ****. Give me something dynamic.

I think one of the things that interests me about Gyllenhall in the part is that he can do ugly.

The man’s a good looking dude, and can carry of the matinee idol routine, but his past performances show he can go to very ugly, nasty places in his roles, both physically and mentally. This, I think, is very important for a convincing live action performance of Batman.

The same was true for Bale.

Affleck has never struck me as an actor who can do ugly. This was always the doubt for me when he was cast. He’s a square-chinned Hollywood icon, but his body of work have never given me the impression he could embody Batman’s darkness of character properly.

I think you need an actor who can play villains as well as heroes to play Batman.

Man , This is GOLD .
100% Agree .

Perched on a gargoyle or something. :hmr:

If we got something like this for a first look, I would be one happy man:

I still remember the first look we got of Batfleck... Nothing will ever trump that.

Idk... If I got a pic of Batman on a gargoyle as a first reveal I think it'd top the batfleck reveal.

I just hope they get a good actor in the role this time

What weirds me out is how they're are still fans who refuse to accept that Ben leaving has any legitimacy. At least you guys are rational. If I read one more post on Facebook about this being an anti-DC hoax I think I'll scream.

:funny:
I know what you mean.
I was one that thought the rumors were ridiculous and really just being pushed by people that wanted him to leave.
But goddamn
It’s pretty clear that he’s dropping out now. :funny:

Was bored so I just went and made this with Jake G :funny: Strangely it doesn't look so different from Batfleck, maybe because of the same cowl.

With a little tweaking it could look pretty different from afflecks

I see Hamm vs Gyllenhaall as two options for what WB wants to do with Batman in the DCEU.

Hamm I think would almost be a throwback to the 90's where a new Batman actor didn't equate to a reboot and nobody really mentioned why he suddenly looked different.

I think Gyllenhal would be more the traditional reboot move.

I really don't think a hard reboot is necessary even if Gyllenhaal nabs the role. General Audiences don't care about continuity as much as people in our bubble do. I remember when people thought Ben Affleck's Bruce was a sequel to The Dark Knight Rises, or that The Dark Knight was related to Batman '89 somehow. People recognize the brands and come out if they look good, they don't care about or are ignorant to the details of continuity.

Due to the age differences I don't think audiences will assume Gyllenhall's Batman would be the same one who in previous films talked about his previous 20 years of crime-fighting.

With Hamm people would probably accept it's more a recast of the same role.

Hamm is absolutely the wrong direction to go.
Anybody whose starred in a film with Ben Affleck is just gonna make things worst or be more of the same and its gonna be too late before most people realize it. Just like Affleck's case.

Did they miss Batman Begins or something?

I like that the ears are longer. Affleck's cowl looks too much like the one he had in his Daredevil movie. Just black instead of red.

Alot of people missed Batman Begins.

I remember being in line for The Dark Knight and talked to this group of women who had no idea Dark Knight was a sequel.
There was a couple I talked too who thought it was a remake of Batman 89'
I talked to a few people who only came to watch it for Heath. They didn't even care that it was a batman flick.

I bet theres enough people out there that still don't realize it was a sequel.
