Didn't see it. Do you mean that movie confirms that he'd make a good Batman or a terrible one?

Not terrible. But he did display a lot of what he could provide if he was cast as Batman...which wasn't great.

90 percent of these suggestions over the last month or so are all terrible actors or average at best.

I don't know why we're all suddenly going back to the mid 30s range. I still believe it's a 40 something grizzled Batman. For me, it's Josh Brolin or Jon Hamm. Mainly Brolin. I don't really see anybody else taking the role or me getting excited otherwise.

Recast Cavill with Tom Brady. The man has got a more chiseled chin than Cavill. :o

Peyton Manning isn't terrible. He has shown on SNL that he can act. :o

It all comes down to these factors on who to choose:

1. Older VS. Younger

2. Big Name VS. Unknown

3. Has "the Look" and voice VS. Actor needs to make transformation

4. Readily available VS. Must schedule due to work in other roles

5. Actor wants to be Superhero VS. Actor who doesn't really want to

So, in summary... the best, in my opinion, would be some actor out there who will be somewhere in between all these:

-he'll be 35-40 years old (or at least can act like he is)
-relatively known but not a major star
-can look/sound ok and surprise audiences with his transformation
-will be available for training, shooting and promotions despite other upcoming roles
-has no problem playing a Superhero like Batman and the commitment to it.

Good luck finding him! All we can do is keep the suggestions going.

I've gotta voice my opinion on Josh Brolin... looks like some outlets reported his name and now too many people are running with this... it simply wont work. I LOVE Brolin and he's a FINE actor... but he consistently plays characters with average to below level IQs... now in real life he may be a very bright man but he just comes across as the old grizzled bad ass who punches first and asks questions later... now part of this is probably due in some part to his southern drawl which is sometimes held back sometimes emphasized... but you better believe its always there. Could he throw on the cowl and be an older grizzled bad ass looking batman with the growl and frown perfectly in tow... sure... but do i buy him as a sophisticated billionaire smartest man alive type of detective... not in a million years. Henry Cavill should NOT look like he can run circles around Bruce intellectually. I think WB would be wise not to follow TDKReturns like scripture... cast a mid 30s Batman who can play the part for an additional 10 years. If they're gonna go older i'd go Hamm Younger id go Gosling/Fassbender.

What exactly told you that Keaton could play someone with a high IQ ? Was it Beetlejuice or Mr. Mom?

Keaton has no regional accent and clearly could pull off the aloof billionaire intellectual angle just from watching his real life persona... plus who says i think Keaton was the definitive Bruce anyway. (hint-> my username)

I think we will get an official announcement on who will be the next Batman by early next year 2014 to coincide with the 75th Anniversary since Batman first appeared in comics.

WB celebrated Superman's 75th this year. So next year it's likely that there will be a huge marketing promotion for all things Batman, and that would include the announcement of the actor chosen.

That will also allow WB the remainder of this year to keep us guessing as they prepare the chosen one.

To make its deadline, the movie will have to be much further advanced by then.

unknown actor, or hingle mccringleberry. ive never seen such intensity from one person. an unknown might be best, though. and when i say unknown, unknown to the masses. like chris evans or hemsworth or pratt. look to tv, low budget indie movies, etc. maybe even a comeDic actor like keaton

^What shocked me was that Hemsworth was George Kirk in Star Trek.

what shocked me is that in star trek aliens don't have british accents. but a hemsworth type would be ideal. make a star, dont cast a star. save that for the villains

Doesn't matter. Bale's Wayne wasn't hands on in most of the scientific legwork and was mostly used in the playboy persona. I'm not a Brolin supporter but I don't buy your argument . Was Brolin unintelligent in Milk?

Actually, that was my biggest gripe with the Nolan trilogy. I just never got the sense that Bruce Wayne/Batman was a brilliant detective or strategist, and am really hoping that they play up that aspect a bit more this time around.

I'd like that as well but we don't know which way Snyder is going with this.

If they have Luthor in this movie, then I really hope they go with detective/strategist Bruce. To have otherwise would just be painful to watch.

Clooney comes back as Batman with O'Donnell as Nightwing with a cameo by LL Cool J as Cyborg asking Nightwing to come help with a mission, but he has to turn him down in order to help Batman take down Superman...

Jon Peters would be all over that.

"painful to watch" reminds me of Clooney vs. Shwarzenegger in the disastrous movie called Batman and Robin.

Having big stars does not always equal a good movie. I hope they've learned from this mistake and just have a great movie with a Batman that is all around, detective, crime fighter. He doesn't have to be so spectacular full of gimmicky gadgets and colorful weaponry like Clooney's was.

Although Clooney's style of Batman would be the type that can go up against Cavill's Superman because his Batman would just whip out a green kryptonite colored Batjet or a red sun ray laser Batarang.
