BvS Batman casting thread for Man Of Steel 2 - Part 7

Not liking Armitage for the role. Wes Bentley is my choice. And look how angular and "sharp" his features are compared to Cavill. I'd say Cavill has a more square-ish look to his features(perfect for Superman) while Bentley has more triangular look to him. Perfect for Bruce/Batman. Plus this guy's young enough to be Batman, while at the same time not being too young or too old. He's also 5 years older than Cavill which works if they're going for a Batman who's a few years older than Superman.

Just cast Armitage. His eyes suggest a thoughtful, broody, energetic, serious, and soulful character at times.

I'm Bruce Wayne.

He has the look, practically has the Batman voice now, AND he can do action well.

Agreed. His my number one choice whether or not they are going for a veteran batman.

After watching all of Teen Wolf in two weeks, I'm big for Hoechlin. The guys just seems perfect for the role.

His eyebrows and acting tell me otherwise.

For Older actors Armitage is the best choice, Wes Bentley is the best choice among the younger actors.

Edit : He is just a year older than Bale and he is younger than Josh Brolin (46), which is a plus.

No excuses. I never like that argument. You should be a good actor no matter what you're in, unless the director is using bad takes. Anyways he's younger than Cavill so that's not going to happen, thank god.

But if we were putting age into the equation, RDJ wouldn't be Iron Man. And Renner wouldn't be Hawkeye.

Soft lighting and make-up can do wonders, and you aren't gonna REALLY see his face in the costume for the Batman moments anyway. Just his eyes, jaw, and lips. And the mask will have to fold over the front, but that might make him look scarier anyway.

Bale is turning 40 this year and if he returns he will be 41 by the time they start filming.

That is not much difference (IMO.) as he looks a few years younger than his real age as opposed to Jon Hamm who looks a few years older than his actual age.

Dude, a geriatric can play Iron Man. It hasn't really been difficult for RDJ in actually playing Iron Man. He just slips on a couple pads, the outer helmet, has a motion capture suit and walks around. The action of Iron Man is mainly a CG one. And it's only gonna get a lot easier for him. Easier than most comic book roles.

The actor has to actually wear the Batman suit, move around in it, stand around on set all day, and do some serious stunt work. Bale was 30 and he had a hard time in the Begins suit. I get they can only make it better, but it's still cumbersome and much more demanding and difficult from both a physical and practical point of view. Somehow I doubt an actor past 50 is gonna want to do that for a character they plan on using again for future appearances.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about his casting because of his age. But material plays a big part. We've all seen good actors with good scripts and bad scripts and there is a definitely a difference in performance.

After having to wear the dwarf suit for Thorin and some of the other more physical roles he's played, I'm not as worried about Armitage being able to handle it as I am for some other actors in their 40's. That said, if they do plan to have him in multiple movies, he might star wearing down a bit faster by the time he's in his late 40's.

Sounds too expensive, though I know you're kidding. But I'd be pretty disappointed if it came to that. I get where stunt men have to step in of course, but it always benefits to see or know that it's the actual actor doing the ones he can do, or pushes himself to do them. But Batman's costume does put a slight hindrance above most other comic book characters.

Jackman's been in supreme shape for 13 years. His healthy habits and condition have helped him with playing Wolverine. Plus the man's extreme passion for the character has always served him right. There aren't a whole lot of actors like him who do that movie after movie, especially playing a character for as long as he has. Not only that, he has a pretty big say in what he does with the character.

If Karl Urban gets cast, it will be like he's the seasoned/expereinced crime fighter who will teach the young and "naive" Supes one thing or two

What about a manip of Jude Law as Bats?

I disagree, I think he acts well enough and he has a presence when on screen. I also would say that getting a director with more skill will help him too, his material in Teen Wolf isn't huge or super deep either. He may be younger but he doesn't look any younger than Cavill does.

I prefer Bentley to Armitage. Not feeling him at all.

And I could see Hoechlin as Batman, and would probably be fine with it. I say give him a chance. He's at least as good an actor as Cavill or Routh.
