I just have to wonder if the people who want Manganiello have seen him act , I've been watching true blood since day 1 and he's one of the worst actors in the show. Sure, his body is insane, he's tall and he's good-looking, but that's all, he has no charisma, charm or good acting skills.
It makes me shudder to think Snyder made him go that far in the audition process for Superman against Henry, the movie wasn't even that good but Henry was one of the best things to come out of it, if it had been Joe I doubt the movie could have been saved.

I feel like Zack would have chose Henry anyway, but I feel like it was a close call of sorts.

The visuals of that show make me cringe. I really don't like that style. But sure, it would be cool to have that Bruce Wayne. Their Alfred sucks though. What the hell is that? Jason Statham? LOL.

I actually like the look and feel of the show, but I don't care for the way Alfred was re-imagined. I actually refer to him as Jason Statham as well.

I have seen him act , onstage.
He was very good .
I dont think that True Blood is representative of all of the things that Mangianello can do as an actor.

The thing is , that the stories that Batman's appeared in on film really didn't lend themselves to detective work . We had some in TDK which was sufficient imo. You also have to remember that the detective stuff is a hold over from the pulp era from the 30's and 40's when detective novels and characters were popular and before you had the tech Batman that we know today. It works in live action for characters like Holmes and the Mentalist because that's his thing and he's exclusively solving mysteries .

In a film like MOS 2, I doubt aside from some Lex stuff and maybe Clark's identity, that we are really gonna get the detective alot of comic fans wanna see.

I don't know about that. He let Miranda dupe him pretty bad, that despite getting up close and personal with her.

There was also the thing with the fingerprints. He knew Selina stole his fingerprints, and then the thing with the stock market happened. He still didn't make the connection until he was broke.

I think there were opportunities, but for the sake of the plot, they decided not to have those type of moments.

When Joe guest stars on How I met your mother he always come off to me as pretty awesome.

I'm sorry, I just can't see it, I guess he can be an OK actor sometimes, but I think we need someone beyond the 'he's ok' category for a role like this or future DC films.

Elmayimbe is saying now that they got the Raccoon scoop, it's now time for him to get Batman next.
He can just tell us once he has something, and exactly what it is. Otherwise, no one cares.

I think he can be better but his storyline is ****. He is given horrible material to work with.

Snyder said that ultimately between Joe M and Cavill, Cavill's sense of kindness won out.

And while he may not have had Joe M's natural physical prowess, Cavill was no slouch and built an equally insane physique in his own right.

Why anyone listens to El Mayimbe at this point is beyond me.

Gah, I just want to know who the next Batman will be already. That way we can go from bickering about who would be best for the role to bickering about whether the choice made is at all right for the role. ;)

Well it probably won't be too long until we find out, probably around Christmas time.

Yeah, there was a great recent interview with Joe M about the play he is doing. Here is what he had to say.

Is it really cool to be at a point, in your career, where you can then switch gears and do the Yale Repertory Theatre production of A Streetcar Named Desire?
MANGANIELLO: Yeah. I haven’t been able to do a play in four years, so be able to get out and do that is really exciting. Sometimes it takes 20-odd days to do a True Blood episode, and out of those 20-odd days, I maybe work two or three. This year, I’ve been more of an entrepreneur with the book, and I’m directing a documentary, and I’m starting a company with my brother and optioning projects. And then, I’m training. I’ve been doing everything, but acting. I haven’t forgotten, but I think there’s probably a lot of people out there that have forgotten that I’m actually an actor. There are people that don’t even know that I came from theater, first. Those muscles need to be worked out. I need to get up there and let that out. It’s more raw. There’s an electricity to stage performing. And the fact is that I’ll get to act every day. With True Blood, I’m acting sporadically, and then being a businessman every day, in between, or a bodybuilder, in between, or a writer, in between. While all that stuff is great and sets up the future, it’s nice to get back to what I actually do. Honestly, what a lot of people think I do best is stage acting. It’s a talent and ability that’s completely gone unused.

A lot of people think he's a muscle head or gym rat. He is actually a theater actor first! His muscular look is for True Blood, he was never quite in that shape before he landed the role. And now he just maintains that shape because it is easier than starting from scratch for every season. So he ain't actually a muscle head, he's doing what the role requires.

I wonder if he had an extreme twitter reaction to his scoop last night from Batfans that led to this decision to focus on Batman next?

No, he was always in that shape before true blood
that's why everybody was drooling over him when he was cast at first and his shirtless pictures were all over the place.

It won't be that late.

The rumor that we'll get the announcement within the next 30 days is probably accurate.

They announced Henry for the role a full 7 months prior to shooting, and filming on MOS2 is set to start in early 2014.

Also, at the time Henry was cast, Snyder had only been on board for about 3 months, and the casting process had only been less than two. So I'd say this process will be quick. Plus, Goyer and Snyder reportedly want to cast an actor prior to nailing down the script; basically writing the character to fit the actor.

I guess he was in shape before TB but definitely not the way he's on that show. He pushed it to next level **** for TB. Just in the way that Cavill was in shape before MOS but took it to the next level for a big breakout role.

But regardless, in shape actors can be good actors too. It's not like you can either be in crazy shape or be a good actor.

Sure. Unfortunately I don't think that is Joe's case. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
