Batman discussion thread.

They are different people. Far be it for me to question the mighty Morrison, but I can't figure out why he decided to call the kid Damian, when Ibn al Xu'ffasch seems to fit so much better with the whole concept of Talia and Bruce's son being raised by Ra's and the League of Assassins.

who says that ibn al xu'ffasch is the character's given name in kingdom come? he might have followed his maternal grandfather's example and adopted a pseudonym.

I really hope that GAH is just playing along with you guys because if he's serious than I'm going to continue to laugh hysterically.

God, I HATE future stories. Pass.:down

I thought everyone was being serious.:o Seriously, though, I did.

"Yes maybe"? And welcome to the hype.

Morrison Pulls a superman returns move, and nobody is complaining.:o

Introduces a kid, who may or may not be Batmans kid. Uses Vague history, to make it so Talia and Batman [while drugged apprently] had sex. Batman is unaware of the kid for years, and only finds out after he returns from being gone for awhile

no he used an already established character from a good story and brought it into continuity. bats was never a deadbeat dad, he was under the impression that the child was lost.

SR took and created a character based on an event from a lackluster (at best) movie rather than just having the balls to start a new franchise unencumbered by the campiness of the previous films and introducing a lame character that no one liked and making superman into a deadbeat dad by abandoning everyone he knows to go look at some meteor graveyard...

^You know, I just hate it that there is never a good villain in the Superman movies.

Batman willingly left gotham for a year[to pretty much explore his past] and left Harvey freaking Dent as its "protector":o None the less Superman has had kids in elseworlds stories, all Singar did was add a kid himself. I didn't like the movie,But Damian Head was thousand[1 thousand!] times more annoying then Jason White.

They're both crappy ideas/characters.

IMO.

Its not that the ideas suck, its the way they both were executed. Vague history, and annoying kids should never be in the same story.

^ i agree

it just seems so "unbatman-like" to have a kid. doesn't matter if it was talia, selina, diana, freaking poison ivy or any female in the DCU. to me, the wayne family (and name) died with thomas/martha and batman is destined to surround himself with surrogate family members instead; robins, batgirls, alfred, and leslie (who knows now :p ) to offset this

he can never have a true family because of the person he became; it's part of his appeal and identity (at least to me).

plus it just seems so careless on bats' part. we all know bats likes to get down with the cowl still on, but nothing in the utility belt? c'mon bruce, her dad is one of your deadliest enemies, the odds of you having kids is the same as the sun rising the next day. he's lucky that he got away with one; it should've been triplets

An Idea or character is only as crappy as the writer makes them out to be.

Wouldn't Batman have found out years ago he had a kid running around?
I'm sure he kept tabs on Ra's and Talia...

Even if he kept tabs on Ra's and Talia it's likely that he would'nt find out...Ra's has equal resources to Batman....if not more. And he's been around so long that he must have some hidden safe house's that Batman has of yet not found.
