Batman Forever

I had high hopes for the deleted scenes from Forever, but when I finally saw them on the dvd I thought "these really wouldn't have saved the movie".

I don't hate BF, but it's very very weak, compared to B89, BR and BB. There are a lot of parts in it I like, but as a whole the movie is just too empty, too stupid. And even those scenes with Bruce in the cave re-discovering himself and confronting the giant bat (which in script-stage sounded AWESOME, but in the movie looks rather silly), wouldn't have made it that much of a better film.

I tend to disagree, I think it wouldve atleast given the film a little more mystery and darkness to it, very similar to the BB scene with Bruce confronting his fears in the cave. The scene wouldnt "save" anything, it would just give it a little more of the dark feel to batman we all love.

My favorite scenes in the movie

1) Batman suiting up and then leaving the Batcave and arriving at the bank crime scene: It was a great intro despite the unforgivable "drive-thru" quip.

2) Batman falling from the skyline: Call me crazy but this one owns the one from Burton's first. This is coming from someone who prefers Burton's Batman movies to any others released so far. It was more dynamic with the backflips and the ass kicking straight up Neal Adams ish. The one from 1989 hasn't aged as well I can't help but notice the zipline holding Batman as he crashes through in BATMAN. However "where does he get does wonderful toys?" >>>>>>> "Your entrance was good...."

3) Bruce Wayne opening up to Chase about his repressed memories in Wayne Manor: Awesomely played by Kilmer.

4) Bruce Wayne kicking down Chase's door: Subtle things like this are awesome to me. Kilmer did great playing the aloof yet brutish side of public Bruce that are so common in the comics.

5) Arkham Asylum towards the end: Arkham was just perfect.

I thought Batman used the rope for every landing. Like when he flies over Jack Napier and kicks his gun away at Axis Chemicals. On that scene you can even see how he gets rid of the batrope.

EDIT: I completely misread this post earlier. You're talking about a completely different scene. I'm talking about the scene at the museum when Batman rescues Vicki. The one that's similar to the one in Forever with that jackass shouting "BATMAN!!!". You clearly see the harness that's holding Batman as he crashes through. I always interpreted that as a goof and not something intenional.

Oh another scene I like is when Gordon bring Dick to Wayne Manor and then he tries to get the hell out of dodge. The way Bruce Wayne convinced him to stay to me was an important contrast to how Bruce was before he realized how he failed Selina in BR. He's trying to reach out to the kid & save him from getting lost. He wants to help him especially since it was never really done to him by someone who really understood the pain they both share of being made orphans through murder. Good scene.

This is a still from that scene, but I think that may be the only one!

Oh, Schumacher...when will you ever learn? :whatever:

It sure looks like ManBat ( I know it isn't ManBat)

There was a massive rumour started when the DVD came out because of those scenes, that ManBat was indeed in BF.

I dunno, cut properly with sound and lighting and effects, it could have been good. As it is, just goofy.

I didn't know that. When I first saw those screens, I thought it just had something to do with Bruce becoming Batman.

There was a rumor I believe on IMDB that it was supposed to be a Man-Bat scene, but its totally false, if you watch the extras on the SE of BF itll give you the full info.

There's a really great shot of Bruce face-to-face with that huge bat in the trailer for BF. It fits well there.

I dont remember that for some reason...was it the regular trailer?

I'm not sure how well these extra scenes would have elevated Batman Forever.

They already have basically, with the edition of the deleted scenes. I highly doubt they'll give the money for special effects/music/lighting/editing for BF now they have this new franchise.

Which is kind of typical of the way WB treats Batman anyways...

Yes agreed!

Unfortunately true.

All WB wants is to make money, we all know that from experience.

I found this today. The giant bat deleted sequence with score and sound effects added.

Pretty good job i think.

Its amazing how much the quality of these threequels would be improved with deleted scenes, eh?
