Do you think it's possible that there are comic book fans out there that actually don't like Batman, possibly even dislike him or hate him, or maybe just resent him a little bit? It's easy to find people who hate Superman for whatever reason, but you'd be hard pressed to find people who hate Batman.

So true believers, is it possible that Batman Haters exist?

yeah, you always find people who think it'c cool and trendy to dislike popular characters, books or films.

It's unfortunate.

Can't says I've ever met a comic fan who doesn't dig The Bat... It's gonna be interesting to watch this thread develop...

I've never encountered any Batman haters, usually if the latest movie bombs or the newest TV show isn't bringing in the viewers then there's a backlash.

I imagine after Batman & Robin sucked badly Batman wasn't considered cool any more which happens to all comic book characters.

I don't think there are Batman haters per se, but I do know that there are those who look at you funny if they know you're a fan.

Among actual comic readers I've never found anyone to say they HATE bats. I can imagine some people are hating Dick as Batman right now, I am not one of them however. Actually I took a Graphic Novel class last semester and my teacher said he hated "men in tights" stories aka superhero stories, but even there we read The Killing Joke.

Never had the pleasure of meeting one through the years that I've actually been reading Batman comics.

If they exist, they should be banished to the Phantom Zone. . . The same goes for Superman. :cmad::up::up:

I knew a Batman "hater" back in high school. But then again he was a huge Superman fanatic..

I work in a comic shop, and yes, they're are plenty of *****e bags that express their hate for Batman. Some are just trying to be different, some are just trying to get under my skin, but there are a few that legitimately dislike the character.
Now, most of these are either Deadpool fans, strict Marvel readers, or they simply don't read superhero comics.

I don't like Batman himself. I greatly enjoy his supporting cast and rogue's gallery, but the character himself has become unlikeable to me. I'd probably like him more if he was more human.

Some of the girls I've dated are fans of Love and Rockets and Gloom Cookies and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac indie comics and don't like Batman. They laughed and were shocked that I actually like Batman. They think Batman's really cheesy and they think Robin the Boy Wonder makes Batman look really gay. They had never even read Batman comic books and weren't interested in starting. So, yeah, not all comic book fans like Batman. To each their own.

Just to have a girlfriend who likes comics is awesome so we can debate on comics.

There are haters of everything. GlasgowBats said it best. If it's the in, trendy thing there are going to be a various section of people that will hate whatever it is. It's always for very dumb reasons too. I know many people that don't ENJOY Batman but they will calmly and thoughtfully tell you why. When someone hates it they just hate simply because it's a good way to stir up ****.

^^^not really. Batman's been around for 71 years and has had time to build a loyal fanbase. sure, there are the bandwagon ones and all, but Batman has some true fans. i don't know when the twilight books first came out, but it's a new pop culture trend that will end relatively soon and you probably won't bump into many fans within five years of the last movie.

and, Batman's cool.

General Audience wise, I remember alot more people hating batman in the 97-05 period, before the nolan movies came out.

Who cares if some people hate the Dark Knight, they just jealous that Batman always had great writers, villains alias' etc... I don't like Superman but that doesn't mean I hate him I just like that much as Batman.

The only sentiment I have encountered, is the tendency for people to dislike Bat-fans who think that Batman can defeat anyone or anything with enough prep-time. That irks people to no end. Otherwise, I have yet to encounter a person that outright dislikes the character. In fact, most people I know, either have him as their favorite hero, or they admire the fact that an actual person (with training and time) could become something similar.

Okay, haters of the Bat*******ninjagod are there, that's a given. But even those would say "I like the Batman of the 70s" or something like that.

I can honestly say that my preference for Bats has fallen in the wake of other characters recently, BUT IN THE LONG RUN BATMAN WILL ALWAYS BE #1 to me. It was the first film I watched in theatres in 1989 (I was 4) and I have related to Batman since I was 5 years old. I am 25 now.

Anyone who hates Bats, well I can't see it, but I dislike many popular characters as well, so it is possible!

I might say he is overexposed, but not overhyped. It would be nice to get other characters to have 1/2 the exposure he or Supes does.

I'm sure there are people who really hate the character, but most of the ones I've seen either don't read comics (or not his type, if they do read), or are trying to be cool by hating something that's popular. Pretty much everyone I talk to though at least likes him, with or without reading the comics.

I don't read Batman books for Batman. At any one time, he's the most boring part of his own book. I only pick up his books to see what the villains do. His rogues gallery is far more entertaining than he is.

I killed a Batman Hater the other day.

He had green blood.

That's because no one's successfully written Bruce Wayne in the past 20 years. Go read a comic from the 70s, and Batman is the most awesome character there.
