Batman needs more than one movie before JLA

Batman is probably the last character who needs a solo movie, let alone multiple movies before a JL movie. Despite it being another continuity, he's already had the most movies out of any superhero character and most people know his basic backstory and his ethos.

It doesn't matter. The point of the films wouldn't be to introduce the world to Batman. It would be to introduce the world to the new Batman. The Batman that's apart of the this new DC shared universe.

And you're right, there are other heroes who need a movie more than Batman. But if the endgame here is indeed a Justice League film, then I am not okay with Batman having merely one standalone movie to service that. He and Supes are bigger than the Justice League. Their individual stories need to be told before they become apart of something greater. And I dunno, I'm just not sure I'd want Batman to be apart of that greater story until he has his own universe fully established... and that's nearly impossible to do with just one movie.

The Justice League should be the next chapter of these heroes respective journeys. And I think before you take Batman to outer space, you need to explore all there is about the character while he's in Gotham first. And I think it would take AT LEAST two movies. I understand the risk in that, and I'm sure it won't even happen... but this is just one man's opinion. I'm not speaking as a businessman, I'm speaking as a fan.

I'd say do Superman then do Trinity. Yiu can introduce Wonder Woman and Batman to the audience through the eyes if Superman if you use Matt Wagner's Trinity story as the starting point. And it's done like Superman already knows Batman, like we do. That would toss Batman into the big league and establish that Gotham is different.

Do you guys really think they need to set it up? Most people are just dying to see a JLA movie because it has some of the most well known superheroes of all time. I'm willing to bet that this "general audience" everyone talks about on SHH would MUCH rather see a JLA right away instead of watching solo Flash, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman movies. I'm sure they'd want to AFTER JLA though. It's mostly the fans that want this elaborate set-up like Marvel did. See, Marvel had to because most people didn't even know who Iron Man and Thor was. With JLA, most of everyone knows who Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, and Green Lantern are because of general pop culture. Honestly batman alone would make people want to watch it.

I'm sure if WB released JLA, it would break all sorts of records (with or without solo movies - even if it had no ties with other DC movies). If Watchmen had enough time to flesh out all of its characters, then so can JLA.

You could be right. I mean, the general audience right now... 18-45 have all grown up with some permutation of the Justice League in media. Superfriends, Super Powers, and Justice League/Unlimited. The Flash had a short lived tv series in the 90s.

Aquaman is the one that's the weak link in the chain pop culturally.

I say do it without Batman, it's not impossible...

Yeah...I think I'll take Batman over watered down, vest-wearing versions of Cyborg and Impulse.
