Batman R.I.P.

i'm still failing to see why bruce needs to be replaced.

is it simply because they have no other ideas?

Yeah, they used to say the only people who stay dead in comics are Uncle Ben, Jason Todd and Barry Allen..

So yeah, even if Batman dies, you know he'll be back.
i thought the saying was "Uncle Ben, Jason Todd, and Bucky"... doesn't matter since that rule seems to only apply to one of them now.

...so that means Bruce Waynes parents are still out there... THERE IS HOPE BRUCE!

So...RIP part 5. Probably the best issue so far, and confirmed some expectations(especially the love interest). Nothing's really clear still, but i think the last issue will clear it up. But this was good, and the ending should be even better. and i must say, this issue has the most sadistic Joker i've ever seen.

Oh I loved it. Went out today and picked up the variant cover which is freakin SICK. It's got Joker takin slashes at bats with a straight razor while covered in blood.

Can someone in spoilers give a quick sum up what happens?

the book was pretty good, interesting dialogue. but i REALLY don't like this Joker/Manson Morrison's got goin on here. and did they just confirm that [blackout]Jezebel is the Black Glove[/blackout]? if that's the case, it wasn't much of a surprise.

I skimmed through the issue today and i have a quick question :
does the joker now know Bruce is Batman, Bruce took his mask off right in front of Joker, when he confronted Jezebel, not to mention Jezebel screamed "Bruce!" right in front of Joker.

With that and the Talia/Gordon teamup I think it is safe to say that whole secret identity thing is over.

There's a strong argument to be made that The Joker has always known, or at least has known for a very long time.

That was the best part of the issue, next to The Joker cutting his tongue in 2.

I swear, if the Talia/Gordon team-up isn't used to full potential next issue, i'm going to be disappointed. I've changed my stance on this. I actually think it's pretty good. My problem is that, in my opinion, the Bruce/Jezebel thing wasn't fleshed out enough to make me care or shock me with this issue. It's something that i've had a problem with since Morrison started his run: Everything previous to this has jumped around. Relationships aren't fleshed out, characters showed up whenever Morrison felt like using them, and they weren't fleshed out enough to begin with. And the unfortunate thing is, this is the pinnacle of Morrison's run. Everything he's been doing has led up to this point, and really, all that's happened has had no effect on me, because i, as a reader, have not been given any real reason to care. To me, the IDEA of RIP is pretty intense, epic, and exciting and tragic. But the execution has really been lackluster. Fun to read, but really lackluster.

I would have to agree.

Batman refered to Robin as Jason when he confronted Joker about killing him.And it would habe been public news that Bruce Waynes adopted son Jason was killed in Ethyopia the very place that he killed Robin..

The exact same thing could also be said for Gordon. I thought the whole literal snake tongue thing was a bit over the top I mean we get it The Joker is a snake like being no need to beat us over the head with it. Aside from that though I liked the issue but felt that part 4 was much better because of it's more balanced structure this issue seemed too fast paced in comparison.

This issue is quite confusing. Will read it again when I have the time

Jezebel Jet is the Black Glove. Kinda disappointing. Hope the reason for that is interesting.

Now I wonder what will happen to the secret identity stuffs. There must be a bunch of people who know Bruce is Batman now...unless they are still convinced that he is just an impostor.

I feel like not everything is what it seems, its possible we're given a distorted view of what's actually going on, we could be seeing things through bruce's eyes and Bruce is actin a little looney lately.

The best part was that Batman was standing there, identity exposed, and Joker didn't even acknowledge it. He doesn't care.

As for Jezebel? Hurt is obviously the one we need to worry about; his identity is the real question.

Makes you think that everything is just in Bruces mind.

i bet the joker kills everyone who sees bruce as bats, the club of villains is full of disposable, one use characters.

True, but I think now it's pretty much a definite that the Joker officially knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman and doesn't give a flying crap whatsoever.

he knows that they are batman and the joker, no matter what they look like, his identity was never an issue, he's still batman, especially now.

I'm not sure how Talia and Gordon teaming up means Gordon knows Batman's identity.

I am pretty sure Gordon is competitant enough to realize what it means when people start showing up at Bruce Waynes house looking for Batman.

Just got the new issue. Probably the best one. I LOVED the Joker in this issue.

He killed like two members of Hurts gang and probably cut the hunchbacks face up, and then cut's his tongue like a lizard. I was dissapointed with the ending because I guessed Jezebel being The Black Glove or a villian back in April.

You shouldn't be disappointed. I think just about everyone knew she was involved, due mostly to her piss poor, whiny dialogue(or perhaps it was that way on purpose. I dont know). But alot of people saw this coming.
