Batman The Animated series episodes that stand out.

I'm a sucker for any Joker/Harley episodes, so I won't bother listing all of those (I will omit "Last Laugh", however, which is awful).

Second Chance
Legends of the Dark Knight
Over the Edge
Nothing to Fear
Trial
Perchance to Dream
Read My Lips
Dreams in Darkness
I Am The Night

My favorite Episodes are definetly: Two-Face Part I&II, The Cat & The Claw PT.I&II, Pretty Poison, Heart Of Ice, Almost Got 'im, Feat Of Clay PT.I&II, The Laughing Fish (HAHA!) & the one with Joker and that stupid garbage when he made everyone laugh loool I don't recall the name of it, I deserve a slap! :applaud

Anyway, it was a really good show! ;)

Even 'I've got Batman in my basement'? o_O I really like the Penguin, but that episode was awful. Batman was unconscious for most of it, and we had Penguin being undermined by two bratty annoying kids. The part with them driving the Batmobile was the worst.

Agreed, I think it was a really boring episode.

Internal Youth was a good one where even Alfred has good moments.

I'm still mad at Toon Disney. They said they were showing almost got 'im on the TV Guide, but when I went to watch, it wasn't even a superhero show.

I don't think I mentioned it in my original list but Legends of the Dark Knight's one of the revamp episodes that really stuck out from that series, it's just a shame they got so simple and cheap looking with the series on the kids WB.

It was the teams decision to streamline the animation, much like they did with Superman TAS. Going to Kids WB had nothing to do with it. After they ended the initial run they didnt want to come back with the same thing. They also used a couple of the original designs for characters that they didnt use in the initial run.

Heart of Ice - Mister Freeze was very well done.

The Laughing Fish.
The stabbing music when Joker starts laughing in the Aquarium is the only time that the TAS version seemed scary. They should have used it more often.

i've got batman in my basement stands out....

for the wrong reasons...

It wasn't cheap... it was streamlined which ultimately produced better animation.

These are my absolute favorites.

Thats all I can name right now I picked up the whole set of these on dvd and have only watched up to that point and I havent seen these in so long its hard to remember the ones that may follow but this list will get bigger...:woot:

I believe I attempted a thread like this some time ago. Only problem is that the show, as a whole, was (*and still is*) just so incredible. Sure, there are a couple of shows that were a little less than perfect. However, most of 'em were fantastic. I suppose if I were to name just three, off the top of my head, then.....
1) "Heart Of Ice" Absolutely, the greatest incarnation of Mister Freeze in comic, animated, or film adaption ever. This, and every other character played to perfection. Extremely heartfelt/ moving story.
(*if the Batman And Robin movie "flop" used their inspiration from this particular episode, then "Arnold" would have been taken much more seriously. Thanks for nothing, Joel*)
2) "Joker's Favor" Many a great Joker episode, through the course of the series. However, this one was the first I ever saw that included The Joker. (*and introduced Harley, as well*) Anyway, this one stands out if only to truly showcase Joker's insane demented character. An episode played so well, that half of it is done without Batman to carry it. Poor Charlie Collins.
3) "The Demon's Quest 1&2" Last, but certainly being far from least, this two parter not only stood on an epic scale, but centered in on Batman's "other" greatest foe. A classic Denny O'Neil Batman tale!
So there you have it, when you really don't. There are so many others that deserve mention. Ugh, how I dislike this thread..:csad:

Feat of Clay was amazing, my first exposure to ClayFace. Two-Face was really well done. There are way too many to name here...

"Feat Of Clay" was the very first episode I ever saw of the series. I just watched it again. And you're right. "Amazing" episode, indeed. It still holds up.

Old Wounds was my fave. I loved the conflict between Bruce and Dick.

I only wish that Nightwing got justice and had his own direct to dvd movie :(

I absolutely love the Riddler episodes! They took the character to a new level.

That's actually not true.

Both Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski griped many times that no matter how they tried, they just couldnt make an interesting Riddler story.

This is evidenced by the fact that out of about 110 episodes (including the "New Batman Adventures"), only 3 starred the Riddler, who's a pretty major villian.

Riddler's reform was my fav out of his three episodes.

You're right, there was a huge lacking of Riddler episodes. The first 20 episodes introduced most of the major villains. It took them ages to introduce Riddler into the show. About 40+ episodes in before we saw him, I think.

So refreshing to see that other people really dug "Joker's Favor". Probably the best Joker episode of the whole run (with "Laughing Fish" a close second")
They truly nailed the Joker characterization in this: at first quiet, moody and spooky(when first agressing charlie after the car accident), then giggling and spotty, but still temperamental (when calling charly on the phone years later), near the end, cocky and prideful (durring the Gordon/bomb threat) and lastly, cowardly and non-assuming, even self-mocking(when charlie pretends insanity, w/Joker hugging on Batman's cape)

They took the Joker through every one of his comic book motions over decades of time, and translated it into one 22 minute animated series episode. It was brilliant.

You are absoultely correct. It did take them quite a while, around episode 40 or 45.

I do also agree that of the 3, "Reform" was the best of them. Even it was nothing particularly of note though, in relation to the character, it just was a somewhat more clever story, in comparison to "what is reality" and "if youre so smart, why arent you rich" (probably the second worst title in the series, after "Ive got batman in my basement".)

It's just further evidence that even an excellent writer like Dini couldnt come up w/ interesting material for a dog of a villilan like the riddler is.

I believe the name you're looking for, to complete your superb reflection of this episope, would be "PAUL DINI". There is no one who quite understands The Joker like this creative individual. Thanks, friend.
