"drivel"Darthphere said:Guys, I was the store the other day and saw this comic called Superman. It looked gay so naturally I flipped through it. i couldnt believe what I was reading. Youre telling me this dude is an alien from a planet called Krypton? The guy looks just like any other human, that is totally unbelievable. But check this, it gets worse, the dude was flying, I was like what the ****? People can't fly. And he had this fabulous red cape on that George Michael would love! C'mon, but then the dude was flying and fighting this bald guy in a giant robot suit and im like INSANE! and then the dude shot lasers out his eyes and the bald dude in the suit dropped on a house and can you believe it, nobody died! It gets better though, the dude in the cape like totally picked this guy up, he mustve weighed a ton and flew him into a prison, like dude, you cant carry that its impossible. Then the guy changes his costume and puts on some glasses and nobody recoginizes him as the dude in the cape. This stuff is unbelievable, how can anyone read this dribble.

Batman is one of thee most believeable characters in comics IMO.Then again, these are superhero comics, they're not supposed to be that grounded in reality when you have guys running around in tights with powers equivalent to war machines.
The Question said:That's far fetched, of course. He'd have to be some kind of metahuman himself to be that skilled. But simply having him as he was origionally meant to be, as in a skilled hand to hand combatant and detective with good chemistry skills and alot of money, is quite acceptable.
You´ll get no arguments from me there, having him face dead-on groups of thugs defeats the whole principle of a black-clad dark knight who uses fear as his primary tool against criminals. The Question said:Personally, I'd like to see a new take on the whole "Batman VS a group of thugs" thing. Instead of displaying superhuman ability and prowess in face to face combat, I'd prefer to see him using stealth tactics to take a group out. I mean, isn't he supposed to be a ninja? That's how ninjas fought large groups of people. Stealthilike.

In Batman: Yeah One, Miller did something neat.
When Batman had to intervene in broad daylight, Alfred turned to to Bruce as he was leaving dressed as a biker completelly covered in blac:
"- No uniform?"
"- NEVER in brad daylight."
The Question said:Of course. The suit only works when it's dark, and you can't see the seems and the straps and where the boots go on. In the dark, he's a demon from hell. In the light, he's a rich kid who never grew up wearing expensive S&M gear.
Zeu said:They do offer attempts to explain how they got those powers.
How do yuo explain a MERE HUMAN being able to excel in every field of knowledfge known to man?
Most geniuses out there sweat and bleed just to be one of the best at ONE field of knowledge.
Heck, Newton, Einstein and Madam Curie only managed to become good at ONE, maybe two fields of knowledge and they were the pinnacle of brain power.
And here comes a guy who surpasses all those geniuses by studying in his part-time on his way to the Hymalaias to study MA with some monks.
War Lord said:I've already explained how Batman could acquire so much knowledge in such a relatively short time and it's a very reasonable explanation.
The Question said:No, not really. It's still very far fetched.
War Lord said:For a comic book, it's not far fetched and it's not too far fetched for somebody in real life, that happens to have an IQ approximating 180 as well as being super obsessed and compulsive.
