This fool obviously does not get the character at all or the subject matter. Batman on adventures, wow that sounds like the worst idea I have ever heard.

Batman is hands down the most rooted and psychologically interesting comic book hero probably ever and so are his villians. That is why it is so interesting mirroring him off of other crazies, because he is absolutely bat**** crazy himself. How you can honestly say a straight edged character like supes is more interesting is beyond me.

It's nothing like that in Begins though. There's no duality or contradiction, he overcame his rage while with Ra's, and found his purpose. He now has an altruistic, impersonal mission. Batman's a symbol, a simple hero. Always in control. There's no sense that his personality compels him to do be Batman, he does it because he thinks it's the sensible thing to do, rather than it being a rationalization. It's very light and earnest

I fail to see how they implied in any way, shape, or form in the film that he overcame his rage while with Ra's. He found an outlet for it, sure, but I never got the sense that he overcame it. The chase scene alone where he's running over police cars and damaging public property to save Rachel shows that he's got a few screws loose, and Alfred even chewed him out about it. That you say his mission is impersonal is humorous to me, because Alfred is pissed off that Bruce's mission IS personal. Also, if there was nothing in his personality compelling him to be Batman, he never would have been in that Chinese prison at the beginning of the movie. He was seeking a path to use his anger on criminals, and he found that while training at the monastery. It's not as if he was sitting around in Gotham and just said, "Oh, I've got it! A good way to fight criminals would be to dress up as a bat, and I'll do that just because it's the right thing to do."

I knew someone would try to use that quote. Well of course saving his dying best friend is personal! That's got nothing to do with his mission or why he became Batman

He wasn't in that Chinese prison because something was compelling him to fight criminals. The film tells us he doesn't have a purpose beyond his reaction to Falcone's speech about not understanding criminality. Only once Ra's finds him does justice spring into his head

The film weirdly tries to explain how Batman is the natural end result of the circumstances he finds himself in, rather than an insane reaction to his parent's deaths. As if anyone would become Batman in the same position.
