Which of the movies from the old franchise do you think developed Bruce the most as a character?

Although I don't care much for it overall, I have to say Batman Forever is probably the movie that really delved into Bruce's psyche the most. Apart from those great scenes he had with Dick, and how he tried to steer him from the dark path he took after he lost his parents, we also got the first glimpse of Bruce dealing with the aftermath of his parents' death. Being at the funeral, running in the rain with his father's journal, stumbling into the Batcave and seeing the giant bat come at him. How these visions haunted him. How he turned to Chase Meridian to help conquer these visions/fears.

It really was a rich study of Bruce Wayne/Batman as a character, and I gotta' give props to Schumacher for it.

Yeah definitely Batman Forever though to give credit where it's due Bruce's arc in that film would not be possible at all if it wasn't for the thematic setup in the first 2 movies. His speech to Dick is more than evidence enough of that.

There should be no contest, it's Batman Forever which is somehow my favourite Batman movie when I am in the right mood. Sometimes it is not. :cwink:

If the villains had not been so camp, and Gotham City so neon and bright, it'd be among my favorites, too. But like I said, it deserves huge props for the development it did with Bruce Wayne.

If WB had not insisted on a more kid friendly Batman movie after Returns, Forever could have been epic.

As much as I hate to say it, Batman Forever. Batman gets the most development in it, although a lot of it doesn't go anywhere (the red book plot) because it was cut out of the final film. That material feels like it should be in a different movie, without neon street gangs and campy villains.

I'm gunna say Forever as well. It's such a shame about that movie, it could have been great.

I think Batman Forever had the best Bruce Wayne, but I thought Batman Returns had the best Batman.
