The Dark Knight Batman's Theme Music in TDK

Yeah, I want something epic and deep. Like the song called antrozous in BB, that song was awesome and what ever scene it played with it made it 10 times better

This is just speculation on my part but I think the Batman theme can be heard for a little bit in Antrozous, during the 1:27 mark or so, in the movie it was in the "It ends here" part. You can also hear it in the end credits around the 6:56 mark. I've seen a few other people agree with me on this.

i am drunk. so who is gonna tell this guy that this news is like...........OLD?

That would be a cool theme

"Earned" score. lol @ that. That's an excuse. Superheroes don't earn incidental music. No one does.

Truth is too many people noticed the theme wasn't as good as Elfman's.

That said, I'm not one of those people. I think the theme BB had was good enough for the new franchise and needn't to be changed at all.
Except there was no theme, and I don't think it was a matter of topping Elfman's (basically impossible in my mind). Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard (who is never given any credit by fans for some reason) are professionals and when they develop a movie's score, they are fully aware of things like themes and what they're supposed to evoke and if they left one out, its not because they forgot, its because they had a reason.

People are now calling it an excuse, but it really isn't one. Zimmer and Howard have never been aked to compare themselves to Elfman's work, instead they were asked why there wasn't a constant theme for Batman. They explained their thought process, the one that Christopher nolan would have had to fully approve. Its not a case of "Crap, we did bad" or "Jeez, did we forget that? Golly gosh," its a case of three men, who arrived at an artistic decision which some people wil embrace while others will not.

I still remember very vividly Elfman's theme for B89 and the beautiful choruses he added for returns. I thought Zimmer's music was very generic for BB, no theme at all, I hope he gets to work on TDK, he should be honored to score such a movie. "Earned", my a**.

Are you implying that Zimmer was just too lazy to put a theme in Begins? Why is it so hard for some to believe that when it comes to the Batman scores, Zimmer and Howard have ideas?

I know it's old news drinky drinksalot. I just was watching that trailer today and thought there might be a connection. As a composer myself, who has scored documentary and film stuff, I obviously know the end part of that trailer is not really a theme in and of itself, more an extention of the main, I just think it could be expanded/explored and something cool could come out of it.

Maybe they were rushed, maybe they had no "chemistry", maybe too many cooks in the kitchen, I don't know, but it sure wasn't very memorable. I hope TDK will be a different story, specially regarding the Joker's theme, that should be inspiring.

I still call bs on that "Bruce hasn't earned a theme yet" pathetic excuse.

Zimmer said this in an interview when "BB" first came out, so I don't know what you're saying "BS" about.

It's common for film music composers to create various themes/motifs for a film at the beginning to create a stylistic template for the rest of the score (and also for the director to ask to have them changed or re-worked.) Zimmer could've very well created a full-blown heroic theme from the get-go, only to have Chris Nolan ask him to tone it down and/or not use that exact version in the film. (It's the same approach that they took for "Casino Royale" -- since Bond was just starting out, you don't hear the full-blown Bond theme until the end credits -- you just hear snippets of it during the movie.)

And for you guys who are insulting the theme that starts exactly at the 1:46 mark in the trailer... um, are you deaf? You are aware that this is a heroic version of the Zimmer "Molossus" theme that was used throughout "Batman Begins," and was used over the end credits, right? However, this "trailer" version of the theme wasn't heard in the final film, so it's possible that this may turn into the actual "Dark Knight" theme. If so, that's great -- it's properly heroic and powerful.

I swear, some people like to complain just to prove to their 15-year-old buds that they're "kewl." If a movie showed a daytime shot, these guys would be saying "the sky is too blue!" If it showed the ocean, some fanboy would say, "the ocean looks too wet!" Good grief.

i dont think there is any new music in the Teaser trailer, it sounds like Begins music rehashed just for it.

im gonna admit that i was not a fan of hans zimmers batman begins score, it was rather dull and too much sound effects for my taste. i LOOOVE zimmers score for all 3 POTC films but i thought his begins score could have used a little "oomph" and power to it. i really hopes that his score for TDK will be something on par with Elfmans awsome batman theme, cuz so far i remain unimpressed by zimmers efforts. but i still have hope.

also, is zimmer gonna be scoring TDK alone, or with whats-his-name?

I personally loved the BB theme. I'm pretty sure his "earned" theme will be a continuation of the main part of Molossus(sp?).

is mollusus the part with the "daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"? thats not a theme. theme requires more going on then just to notes.

First of all for those who think this is a stupid thread....if it wasn't for music in movies there would be no drama

the song at the 2:00 mark sounds like BB and Pirates of the Carribean 2 combined.

This dude probably thinks he is so cool right now. I'm talking about Ban Solo up there.

Brilliant post...Zimmer actually builds many motifs in BB, I am sure for expansion later...the melancholy piano ideas in BB quote the backing "bassline" to Molossus, amongst other ideas. Zimmer did this alot on Pirates.

I personally think introducing grand themes as smaller musical movements, truncated for their first reveals is cool. It gives a sense of build and musical continuity.

I also am staggered at the folks that poopoo the end theme in the trailer. It's not a theme in itself so much as a triumphant swell/ending to the main BB theme, it's not supposed to be considered on it's own really, I however quoted it that way, due to the fact that the end of it is nowhere in the film, yet the previous parts are all over it in various scenes.

Speaking of which, someone mentioned that the Joker should get a theme. God I hope so...Zimmer seems to be really growing in strength with this thematic ideas. Davy Jone's theme was brilliantly varied and built upon in POTC 2 and 3, and Hoist the Colours was fantastic and emotional. This guy did the germanic battle theme in Gladiator and the end charge of the Last Samurai, he is clearly capable of emotionally powerful music...Here's to some more in TDK.

I would say it'll be more similar to what appears in the 00:49 mark...:o

I love the end of "Corynorhinus" which is pretty much his theme :)

It's epic shtuff dude :O

Did you guys know all the track titles on the BB soundtrack are the names of different kinds of Bats?
