The Dark Knight Batman's voice: Eastwood meets grizzly bear

as far as LIVE ACTION batmen (im tired of hearing "conroy" mentioned all the time, he was only the cartoon!) i would say keaton. i cant stand these entertainment ppl, they acted like keatons voice wasnt too different from adam west, are they kidding?? there was a world of difference. keaton and even to an extent Kilmer, sounded much better then bale did, they spoke fluently and didnt sound like idiots, but like a man with a lower raspy voice. they changed there voice so that it was gruffer, but not like bale who had the semi-computer altered rediculously sounding gravel throat voice. i have to admit, the one thing i really cant stand with the nolan movies, other then the egghead cowls, is the bat-voice.

I'm also tired of Conroy mentioned (as well as Hamil for Joker), but that's only what I agree on. Keaton's & Kilmer's bat-voices sounded just like their regular ones. Changing their voice to a lower, raspy one doesn't disguise it much at all.

no, they didnt have there regular voices at all. kilmer talking to chase on the rooftop, COMPLETELY different from normal kilmer, and keaton talking to vicky in batcave, totally different. the big difference is that nolan wanted to make batman realisitc, and that meant to make batmans voice TOTALLY different, not just a little different.

What the Keaton-Conroy defenders don´t seem to get Bale goes for a different approach. They went for the quiet, stoic Batman. What Bale explores, especially in the interrogation scenes, is the feral, animalistic Batman, which isn´t anymore over-the-top than well, dressing up like a bat. And he does a much better job at disguising the Bruce Wayne voice.

I didn't say they had their regular voices as Batman. I meant that they didn't sound much different.

I think the voice fits the bill. its not exactly scary to see a guy dressed up as a bat, unless its in the right enviroment..same goes for the voice. If he catches you in a dark alley yer gonna probably piss yer pants with that voice.

Heath even makes fun of it when he says "TONIGHT YER GONNA BREAK YER ONE RULE"

...have happen to you that when u listen to something (music), see something (movie) and suddendly its so cool, it caught you off guard that you just chuckle to yourself??? like *chuckle* this is awesome!"

well, that happened to me when I first saw that clip of Gordon, Dent and Bats on the rooftop...when he says "if I get it for you, will you get him to talk?" or something like that...I just did that, and the same happen to a friend of mine (huge BB fan as me)...he didnt say anything, I just showed the clip to him, he heard the voice and chuckle...

I understand ppl making fun of the voice...but the truth is...It kick ass! it fits and It makes him sound like an animal...and something you dont see very often is he interacting with ppl he trust (Gordon, Dent) using "the voice"...is logic he talks like that...

Bale is awesome, he becomes the Batman...I dont see Bale there...I see Bruce / Wayne...

my two cents...

Well regardless of what critics says I like that he does a completely different, darker, and more menacing voice as Batman. Makes him scarier, seem tougher, and also you cant tell its Bruce Wayne under the cowl.

Ugh. If people still don't realize he has to disguise his voice AND sound tough, then the terrorists have won. I mean, what, is he supposed to put on a Scottish accent as Batman instead?

now that WOULD be interesting!!!

"Haw, Joker, ya fud, your claimed sunshine!"

:hehe:

I hope Bale doesn't take these random criticism's to heart and changes things in the (if there is a...) third one.

for the most part, his voice was ok. but it distracted me at the end when he was talking to the joker. he was belting it out and it just seemed out of place.

...why? because he sounded out of breath?

he kicked like 4 swat teams, kicked the doctors, then beat 3 dogs and a crazy dude with a steel bar...then toss him out and tied him, then lift him...

...he did it right, thats my opinion...
