BvS Batman's Voice Thread

I'd be fine with a modulated voice in the mech suit. I'd prefer his "real" voice when wearing his regular costume.

That is exactly my point and what I was hoping for, which is why I was pretty confused when the last trailer hit and we saw Batfleck in his regular suit with the overly robotic and unnatural sounding voice.

I have mixed feelings about the masked voice. It has the potential to be very cool, as long as all the nuances of Affleck's acting come through strongly within it. I mean, I think how great that worked in RoboCop (the original), for example. If it is just masked in a kind of static way, though, without any character, that will obviously be awful. I can't imagine it will be the latter though. I just want Ben to sort of clearly flow through the mech-voice, with all of his emotions and intonations of voice, if that makes any sense.

I'm glad they kept the modulator for the normal suit as well. Otherwise it might dangerously come across as just Affleck in a bat suit. I don't think it sounds robotic either. Sounds demonic.

Yeah, I think a voice like that coming from the shadows, especially, would be pretty darn scary for sure.

His modulated voice has to serve 2 purposes;

1) conceal his identity
2) frighten the f*** out of people

It seems spot on

Exactly. Loved Bale's Batman, but I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna prefer this voice when all is said and done

If we get to see some criminal forensics or investigative skills, then he will be the best Batman ever.
We've seen that with Bale. In good amount through out the trilogy too. Keaton as well, just slightly less. Enough hyperbole or out and out lies to now denigrate the Nolan / Bale Bat trilogy.

It's visually jarring to see him in the regular Batsuit with a modulated voice  I've got to get used to this I guess :o Still, what a great spot though  Amazing :)

"Tell me do you bleed?"

It was a bit jarring when I first heard it in trailer #3 to me, but now I completely got used to it.

My exact same worries too.

Both Bane and Kylo Ren, with clearly modulated voices in their movies, sounded unintelligible half of the time. Affleck's voice from the trailers hasn't been as bad but I know I'll have to do a 'double take' with his voice in the cinema in order to catch what he says.

I understood every word.

Same.

It sounds incredibly robotic to my ears.

Maybe they listened to it both ways and decided that Affleck's Batman voice needed something to distinguish better from his Bruce. Keep in mind, he is changing his voice for Bruce with a little more gritty take as well.

Kylo Ren's voice was crystal clear..

Well it certainly did. I mean, as you said, Affleck already made Bruce's voice a bit grittier, so there was probably so much he could do naturally. Modulated voice also works well within the universe as it's supposed to hide his identity. Now I can understand that some people don't like it, I also think that it could be better, a bit subtler perhaps... but personally, to my ears, it doesn't sound that mechanical as it does to some people. It reminds me the most of Rorschach + fear toxin Batman from "Batman Begins".

I like the idea of modulation, I just don't like the way they executed it. So far, I think Arrow does it better.

I can perfectly understand that first part of your post. The second one though, I couldn't disagree more.

I loved the voice in trailer 2 but for the past almost year, we have been sold on thinking the DO YOU BLEED line was during the face off in the armored suit. Seeing it in its rightful scene seems very out of place, that's all

The armored Batvoice is find to sound this way, I do not find it is working in the regular Batsuit though as much.

Fair enough. :oldrazz:

We all hear these voices differently it would seem... or draw different comparisons to similar voices we've heard before. Not just that it's perfectly legit, but it's kinda interesting actually. :woot:
