Sci-Fi Battle Angel

Ive seen the movie twice since it's release and I think I'm due for another rewatch soon. I got the 4k UHD back in October so I might pop it in for another viewing tomorrow.

Rosa Salazar needs to be in more stuff too! She was pretty awesome in the film.

She's phenomenal in Undone.

Would love for it to be true...

But I've been burned by this too many time with stuff like Tron Legacy, Man from Uncle (before cannibalism), etc. . They claim they're talking about a sequel, but we know from the box office that it won't happen.
And this update is pretty much a non update. "I would like to do it" doesn't mean much

However I'll be the first one to buy a ticket if/when I'm wrong

Edit: if something can raise the movie's cult reception then that would help a lot

Yeah she was really breaking out with Maze Runner and this. Seems like Alita going left dried up her other options

I mean she's not hurting for roles but I would love to see her in another huge lead role. She was really good in Nite Owls also

It would be greenlit yesterday if Cameron agreed to direct it. But we know that won’t happen.

I can imagine how expensive a series would be though with a fully CGI character though. And Cameron ain’t one to cheap out She-Hulk quality.

Honestly any follow up would do at this point. Would prefer a movie but would absolutely watch a series.

Alita: Battle Angel Director and Star Are In Talks About A Potential Sequel - IGN
Speaking to Screen Rant, Landau tantalisingly commented “we’re working on it” regarding a potential Alita Battle Angel 2. He later expanded on who “we” was, explaining that he was “talking to Robert and talking to Rosa, and all is good”.

Alita: Battle Angel is based on a popular manga of the same name and follows the trials of a cyborg girl who awakens in a scrap pile. With no memory of her past Alita must navigate the dangers of the dystopian sci-fi world she finds herself in, while coming to terms with her true nature.

“I think what we've learned from Avatar is how much more facial nuance and subtlety that we can get into characters that we want to be emotional and emote that are humanoid,” commented the director. “Alita would not have been possible, but for what we did on Avatar. Avatar: Way of Water would not be what it is but what we did for Alita. And now let's put that back and give it back to Alita.”

Man I really hope this comes to fruition. I didn’t absolutely, fully love the first film, but I still really, really liked it, how they adapted the world and the main character, and Rosa Salazar was great in the role. Great casting.

The ending of the first film promised so much awesome stuff, with the tease of Nova and Motorball, in the sequel.
If the first film was a coming of age story, the next film is basically going to be a straight up sports film. Now that the set up is out of the way, they can just straight up jump into things. Unlike the first film, where they took the OVA story and the first two arcs of the manga and rejiggered/re-organized/simplified some things/events/characters, this next arc they’re adapting is already pretty straightforward/simple and ready-made to adapt for film, so it should be a walk in the park for the filmmakers this time around. It’s basically going to be an action movie, and if stuff like Fast and the Furious is any indication, it’s going to have the most accessibility and appeal to the general audience.

Also, can they please recast Jashugan? He is very blatantly a darker skinned, person of color in the manga, and they cast white as f**k Jai Courtney in the role in a very small cameo. Maybe somebody like John Boyega or someone of that caliber?

Alita: Battle Angel 2 & 3 Seemingly Confirmed By James Cameron

Now, however, in a recent interview with Forbes regarding why he chose to sell his California mansion, Cameron, in his explanation, seemingly reveals that multiple Alita: Battle Angel sequels are happening. Check out Cameron's full comment below:

“And on Avatar, I’m working in Wellington and Los Angeles. And on the new Alita: Battle Angel films, I’ll be working in Austin, so it just didn’t make sense for us anymore.”

I'd love a sequel or series, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Rosa really needs more roles, I just watched "A Brand New Cherry Flavor" on Netflix and she was great in it. It's really weird and out there and there is some RS nudity, so pretty much right in my wheelhouse.:yummy:

Yeah trying not to get my hopes up but would absolutely adore an Alita trilogy.

Yeah i'd love a sequel. But I just can't see them doing it. Only 400 mill on an almost 200 mill budget? And the movie came out 4 years ago. And this is a 20th/Disney property and they're not exactly desperate for franchises...

But I'd be there opening weekend if/when they do
