I am mad.

Very mad.

Now, I know you fans will all scoff at my logic, but I'm not mad because they are remaking this (I just won't see it.) I am mad that I can't remake it.

Its always been a dream of mine to be the one guy who does this Americanization of the movie justice. I'd scrap all those pretty-boy teens and American teen cliche's for real horror.

Nooo.

I hate this.

NEW LINE. I hate you.

Last I heard, they want to do an American remake, but haven't been able to acquire the rights yet.

If the producer of The Ring wants it to happen, it will eventually. Without me.

I hate you Hollywood.

I would have made it amazing. It would have been horrifying. Scary as all Hell. Imagine plunging teenagers into a living Hell where they could and all but 1 (or in the movie's case, 2) will die. What kind of thoughts go through your mind? You question your actions, your pasts, futures, trust, friendships, killing those you hate (Oh, the dream) or killing those you love (Oh...the horror!) And bringing it effectively to Americans with relentlessness and conviction could really make me people second-guess how they act, why and the political climate.

No...they will pollute this movie with rock music, cliches and pretty-teens who can only scream or laugh as their main emotions in acting.

I would have had a score done entirely by Godspeed You Black Emperor with sound-design (atmosphere and what-not) by Trent Reznor.

It would have opened on homeless-polluted streets, a television store window TVs shoot on to show a press conference playing nation-wide about a new measure in the government called the Battle Royale act.

It then cuts to a school bus field trip that takes a drastic turn...you learn about the characters vaguely but enough to identify with them and just who they are in a few minutes. Then they are drugged.

It would have followed the books' actions to a T while throwing in more quietness and silent killing, more horrifying ways of death.

DAMNIT!

Hmm.

So...who else is excited???

Sorry, an American version of of BR would never work, It would just be yet another teenage slasher flick.

Not with all the explosions, gunfights, martial arts, parachuting, and boatraces i'd have in it, it wouldn't.

all Battle Royale is anyway is Lord Of The Flies with more violence and f**ked up Japanese things in it, I dont even see the need for the original Battle Royale

.......wth was it about?

so what if US wants to remake it..???

I don't like this idea that we think we can make a movie better. I mean, isn't that the whole point of a remake? To make it better? Its pretty common knowledge that your average American is oblivious to foreign films, due do exposure and availability of movies from overseas. So when the Hollywood machine begins to sputter as ideas dry out, what does it do? Takes great foreign films and 'Americanizes' it for Joe Stupid, who hates subtitles as much as he hates lack of action for the benefit of building story and character.
