Yeah, I loved it. Only played it a little bit but like other people, I think i'd rather wait until the full game comes out. I'm really hooked into Gears 3, and it seems like BF 3 will really be such an involved game for multiplayer that i'll need to sorta focus on that for a few days to really hook into it. I was way too 'run and gun' from all the Gears I've been playing, and I know that's not the best way to play a BF game. Perhaps a week before release I'll hit up some BC 2 to get back into the mindset.
About the changes, I found the new HUD a little confusing. I was starting to get the hang of it, but yeah, I think that will take some getting used to. I remember BC 2 being a bit the same though, so I'm sure it's just about adjusting to it.
I love the idea of giving assault players medkits instead of ammo now. That right there is one of my favourite changes. Just to weed out that lone wolf mentality, for all the people who loved going out on their own and only supplying themselves. It forces all the basic assault players to actually play the medic role, which is a great idea. Also, like you guys, I love all the little touches and animations. Pulling out the bipod for certain weapons when going prone, holding RB (or melee) to not just slash but actually keep the knife equipped, jumping animations... It just all feels so much more real, everything feels weighted in real physics. So different from Black Ops that after this, I may feel it's going to be hard to ever go back to a Call of Duty game for anything other than novelty. I mean, there was just something so atmospheric in this, when you're slowly and silently moving down a subway tunnel with a squad in completely darkness, unsure of any enemy presence but being totally alert, then spotting a light flash or something and all hell breaks loose... It's real warfare.
I think the guy from EB I was talking to at the Gears 3 launch has summed it up best for me, better than anyone. Call of Duty is for teenagers and young kids, who just play it because its what everyone their age plays... Battlefield 3 is for adults.
