^Most singers need a degree of acting within them anyway now-a-days for adverts and music video's anyway, so one being a competent actor is never a surprise to me.
You have a point.
Rihanna seems to have lots of charisma and and a huge amount of sex appeal also which you dont get without some acting ability in my eyes.
I agree.

when she talks in the trailer it reminds me when i hear Timberlake talking in movies. both are singers and have this way of talking. they both talk like a singer. and i have a problem with this.
I like Timberlake as an actor, he shouldn't be leading action movies or anything and I not saying that he is the greatest living actor but I've seen him give solid and good performances. He has some things to learn and I think he knows that. I think that DiCaprio's voice is kinda annoying too but it doesn't change a performance he might give in any given film. I kinda know what you mean but I've seen non singer actors have somewhat off delivery of lines and too, it's not just a singer issue.

It too early to tell if Ri Ri has that problem (as you can see I'm a fan of hers) because I think she comes off well in the trailer.

I wonder if it means something that they are pushing Rihanna so hard and not he lead actress/girlfriend of the lead character? Is her performance that bad or is Rihanna just that popular?

Rihanna is very popular so she is in the movie to get as much fans into the theater as possible. i get it. its a business. but she in no way looks like a soldier. she looks like a 20 year old celebrity put in military clothes.

I agree. I think Michelle Rodridguez or even Mila Kunis would've been better in this role.

I think they are definately pushing Rihanna for her popularity, as well as her sex appeal. Both of these things will help get more people to watch the movie.

I disagree, while she isnt butch by no means, Rihanna has a weightiness to her that your typical skinny hollywood model or actress doesnt have. Rihanna has the body were it is an amazing body, but she looks like she could take care of herself. There is muscle and the right amount of fat there, she isnt skin and bones like most actresses nowadays.

The trailer's been attached to the past few movies I've seen in theaters. It still looks like a good fun popcorn flick to me, I await it's release.

Got to wonder if Hasbro will release a movie edition version of the board game that has a Sci-Fi theme to it. I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

why would they make this "based" off the game? the only similarity is the battleship. so they now have to pay hasbro royalties? it's not like anyone is going to see the movie because they are fans of the game. the only thing i can think of is hasbro is funding it. anyone know?

and now everyone will be shocked that its a 200+ budget. when this is a normal number for the last 3 years. :)

^Right that is the real budget for most blockbuster films anyway and has been for more than a few years now. It's clear the 175 to 250mil is the average cost of blockbuster films these days. (Some films cost 275 to 300+mil to make.

Although I keep hearing how CGI saves money and yet movie budgets keep going up???

A movie like this also has a marketing budget of say $100 million.

It still takes it's concept from the board game albeit loosely, so Hasbro still has to get credit for it.

I think people were more surprised at the budget for a film like Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

what concept? a ship? how could hasbro ever prove that?

Because the studio said ''Hey, Hasbro, we want to make a Battleship movie, let's make a deal'' and Hasbro was like ''Sure''. They signed contracts for profit and all that; thus Hasbro gets moneyz. The concept might have changed over time, but I'm sure Hasbro don't care because it looks like Transformers with Rhianna, and both are popular with the general audience.

Yeah, that new logo has more **** in than the actual movies it's preceding, maybe.

And that poster of Rihanna...I would definitely hit it. Pun not intended.

It just shares the name and basic premise of the board game (even with the Sci-Fi aspect). So for that, Hasbro still needs their credit.

It really does have a Battle:LA feel, well to me anyway. I just feel indifferent to this movie.

It won't be like Battle of LA. It's huge budget alone will allow them to fill the screen with a lot more battle scenes and explosions. It's Transformers with Battleships and alien spaceships. Even the image of the building toppling over in the trailer reminded me of the last Transformer movie.

There problem is the giant robots in Transformers look a lot cooler on screen than anything they have here so I doubt it will make Transformer like dough.

What are Skarsgard and Neeson doing in this crap? This is the type of schlock that demands Channing Tatum and Taylor Lautner.
