So...I finally caught up to all 56 episodes of the series, thus far.
I'm going to make this short and sweet: if you haven't watched this show, you haven't experienced life. It's as simple as that.
The single greatest spy drama ever put to screen; that includes anything Bond, Bourne, Ryan, etc, etc, etc. No series or film has ever combined this amount of grit, realism, topicality, and unrelenting intensity. And simply put, no series has ever taken this many risks.
What makes Spooks so brilliant, besides its balance of relevance and riveting storytelling, is the fact that the show holds no punches and takes chances that no other drama on television has ever had the balls to take. Main characters actually die.
Is there anything more boring than watching a show where its characters are put through constant peril only for the viewer to know that in the end theyll be fine? In Spooks, that ticking time bomb might actually go off. That terrorist holding a gun to a fan favorite operative? He might actually shoot. The show creates a sense of tension that is unmatched and unrivaled. Every episode presents a genuine threat, not only to the innocent bystanders and civilians, but to the many characters we root for to "get the job done". No other series has presented the lives of espionage agents this vividly, with this much pathos and authenticity.
I'm not going to recommend this show to those who haven't watched it. I'm simply going to tell you: you need to watch this f***ing show right f***ing now. It will change your life.
