The Dark Knight BD Live Chat with Christopher Nolan

And again, you have lost me. Giant robots, supernatural pirates, whathaveyou, these are the types of visuals that would benefit from being shot specifically for IMAX.

If a damn city overview can take your breathe away, imagine what unreal things, that LOOK real, can do in IMAX resolution. It provides for lots of potential. It'd be like Jurassic Park all over again.
No, it's not the same. In doing Transformers or Pirates or Jurassic Park with IMAX cameras, you can't take advantage of ALL of the great things IMAX has, because you need to decrease the resolution to add your main characters.

I'm sure it'll look great, but it won't be the same caliber as shooting TDK's truck flip for real in IMAX.

Yes, you're about to say "TDK should have never been made with IMAX", if you are to follow the logic of that bolded question.
I think he means "most of the image," not necessarily most of the actual movie. That's why they didn't do any Two-Face scenes in IMAX, because the most important part of each shot involving him (his crispy face) would have to be downsized in resolution.

I am referring to the potential of the format. Whether it is possible to do so today does not impede the reality that it will occur. And again, technical specs are pointless in the enjoyment of the movie. Your eyes are the only true gauge of CGI measure. IMAX or not.

So what's the issue? You can't exactly "beat" reality. King Kong wouldn't have been the same caliber as shooting a gigantic gorilla if it existed, but it was worth the effort in pursuing CGI, was it not?

The "issue" is that they're touting filming Transformers on a large, high-res format when they can't take advantage the high-res aspect of that format. It has nothing to do with CGI by itself.

so uh.. how bout we get back on topic here.. anybody got a transcript??

Is there a transcript for this? I'd very much like to see it.

I'd love to see a transcript as well, cause my PS3 connection kept cutting out during the answers I wanted to see.

This is probably not useful at all, but I did take a ton of photos of the TV while the chat was going on, trying to photograph all the questions and answers. They're clear enough to see the text, but I haven't sorted through them all, and I missed portions of the chat trying to recharge my camera battery/clear the memory card.

I honestly thought a transcript would have surfaced by now, but if nothing shows up in the next couple of days, I'll try to post my lame photos.

Hey guys, not sure if this has been asked before, but i was wondering if there was a transcript. Cheers

[Sacrasm, yes i know this question was asked 1 million times before me]

I'm baffled someone of Nolan's eloquence actually uses internet lingo. From that screenshot alone, I would have thought it was a 13 year old girl. :o

i think he was just being sarcastic and taking the piss.

EPIC! :hehe::hehe:

Maybe Nolan frequents certain internet forums if he uses lingo like that?

Does anyone else get the feeling that maybe Nolan had an "internet-savy" typist doing his typing for him? Like maybe Nolan was there just doing the talking and there was someone else doing the typing and reading so that Nolan wouldn't have to struggle with lingo that the fans used in their questions.

Wow! And I thought Bale was the funny one...
However, I think it's a joke and he really doesn't use internet lingo that much
I hope, somehow someone like him doesn't look good saying 'brb'

Of course. Nolan was leg crossed, sipping tea and rolling his eyes at the screen while a 12 year old Asian slave typed away. Alan Horn was on the back signing a check.

I beg to differ.

I don't know about that. I remember him saying it was a 2 pee movie, but NOT during the scene that is in that screencap. It was with 5 minutes left in the movie and everyone was going "WTF, you can't hold it for 5 minutes?" LOL. And I don't remember him using "brb" at all. I remember him saying he had to pee again and that it's a 2-pee movie, and that next time he should make the movie shorter.

Wait, did people actually see Nolan during the chat? I'm kinda behind on this stuff.
