Jason wanted to propose creatively to his girlfriend, Maui. So he conspired with comics legend, sf writer and all-round mensch Neil Gaiman: when Neil spoke in the Philippines, they would attend and Maui would queue up for a signature afterward. Was your original vision of the film longer than the 2 1/2 hour cut it ended up being?
First cut was 15 minutes longer. In my process, rather than removing whole scenes, we try and squeeze the narrative down to the tightest form it can be and this takes various versions and many months.

Surprised at the box office?
We were all extremely surprised but obviously very pleased with how many people came to see it.

On casting Tiny Lister jr.
It was great working with Tiny. He is an extremely talented actor and I was fortunate that he was willing to take on this small role.

The studio is being very understanding about my process. The question of doing a third film is all down to story and do we have a story we really are excited about. David goyer and myself are exploring that right now.

Intended to use Batman's lenses in the first film but couldn't find a reason in the story to do so.

Nolan would only do that as a LAST resort, which, if he gets to that point, he should move on to another film. Have your read some of the story ideas on here?

I've always been taught to use "I" in that instance. Take away "David Goyer" and it would be "I am exploring that right now." That's how I've been taught, at least.
