Be Afraid...Be VERY afraid...Green Lantern Script Review

I love it when you respond like that.

Oh and let me add this wonderful Gem I was told by skruloos and Venom over in the SR forum.

"Change is good"

(not exact quote) "Stability is reliable but also can become stagnant." "That's how it works. Throw a different bunch of stuff up on the wall and see what sticks."

We don't want Lantern to become stagnant!11 WB's trying to see what sticks...

I hope this sticks. :)

Defensive...tsk tsk..ha ha ha, you think I care? I don't know if you're one of those asshats always saying "have faith" or "get over it", but it seems like you are.

Go ahead and attack me, but nothing's going to change anyway.

THE MOVIE'S NOT THE COMIC!!!! HA HA HA HA HA

The STUIDIOS CAN RAPE THE SOURCE ALL THEY WANT TO. JUST GIVE IT A CHANCE.

I'll bring my whole family a bunch of times to go see this masterpiece when it gets made. Yes, just to spite those jerks who are always saying the studio has the right to change anything and everything.

Have a nice day.:)

I still don't get how your acting like a ridiculous moron is going to "accomplish" anything other than making you look like a total "asshat" yourself.

Thus far, you've done a better job of making yourself look stupid than everyone else on this thread, so, by all means, continue! I never post here on the weekend, so make sure to make yourself look, not only stupid, but perhaps even incompetent. That would really complete your downward spiral into the stupidity whirlpool.

Have a great time taking your "family" to see this wrethed p.o.s. If you're married, I'll hope you find a good marriage counselor to help you work through this obvious obsession you have with crap. No need to throw a marriage away over this terrible film.

And, if you're not married....

...I'm not suprised.

Later tater, make sure to whack yourself on the head a couple o' more times for the rest of us!

I don't know. It's just what is always said on every board on every movie i've ever discussed and I'm enjoying mocking them for this. Because movies like this are the product of that kind of thinking. I like how you percieve it. yes it's completely moronic.

And it is equally moronic to support change when in fact all of narative literature today is derived from a handfull of fundamental themes that have existed since the dawn of civilisation. There are no new ideas. There are only interpretations. And some interpretations are inferior to others. This interpretation of Green Lantern is inferior because it does not reflect the essence of the Green Lantern story. That essence may be a lot of things, but the one thing it ain't is comedy!

Is there any chance that this is an elaborate hoax to keep us from knowing any real details about this movie ahead of time?
Anyone?
Please?

No...I'd say that its pretty likely that this never gets past the scripting stage though.

If this film DOES in fact get made, WB deserved every single bomb it garnered this year and every single one to come in the future :down:mad:

A Green Lantern movie should be on a Star Wars-esque scale.

That script was ****.

Agreed, but I have a feeling it was only done to fullfill a contract obligation - I doubt we'll ever see this film.

And then it gets made.

I can't imagine anyone wasting all that time to write this script and it not getting made.

Really, how many said Jason would never chuck a piano after moriarty's script review? Hmmm?

It never ceases to amaze (and amuse) me how people insist on reciting "box office success" when judging the success of a film.

Yes, 'Batman Forever', 'Batman & Robin', 'Superman III' etc. were technically "hits" at the box office.

Yes, this crap idea for 'Green Lantern' would probably be a "hit" at the box office.

BUT...

In the same way we haven't seen endless re-releases and special editions of 'Independence Day', films that are made purely to get that instant box office buzz don't tend to have lasting appeal.

So many of you have these one-track minds (and studio mindset) that it's only about the financial gain.

Have you ever considered the path less travelled... the grey area, so to speak?

Films can be both critically successful and financially successful... as well as being loved by fans... and able to be marketed, re-released and considered true cinema "classics"...

...if they are created with intelligence, talent and genuine creativity...

This is the exact reason why 'X3' is currently considered such a "hit"... but is it going to make cinema publication "best ever" lists in a generation's time? Is it going to come out in endless special editions, director's cuts and cinema re-releases... or is it going to be in the bargain bin in a year's time?

Don't think studios don't know that true success lies in future appeal. they just report initial box office and live off that glory... secretly wishing (I believe) that their film also had longevity. The icing on the cake, so to speak, that 'Batman Begins' will have... and 'X2' has proven to have.

Stop settling for what the studios feed you. Consider the big picture, even if they are looking for "the quick fix".

Oh... and by the way... true creativity doesn't have to cost hundreds of millions of dollars... but it can make more than short-sighted aiming for lowest common denominator.

Darren Aronofsky wrote Batman: Year One knowing full well the entire time that the film would not get made.

Many scripts haven't been made into movies. Here's a few examples for you
Batman Triumphant
Superman Lives
Batman vs. Superman

is it over yet, has this script been burned yet? some one should beat the **** out of robert smigel.

Holy crap....this thread is still going?!

Well... since giving up on this thread is akin to rolling over and playing dead so Warner can beat us... I'd say it should continue until the very day this bullcrap gets released.

So true. The day we stop bashing this script and any idiots who support/pretend to support it is the day it gets maid and we have to wait another 20 years for the WB to try again.

he does it a lot. he did it in Civil War when he got a sandwich out of the refrigerator. Does one scene make the movie a tragedy?

That's not funny. :down Thank god for this movie to show us how it's done.
