Batman Begins BEGINS Costume Sculpt...My work in progress

Question David, the pics you have of the suit are they ones we have all seen or not?

I have an even bigger question.

Is that your wife in the Robin costume on your website?

Yes...that is my wife..:) We had a lot of fun that halloween. 2 years ago I believe. She won first place at her work, $300.00 first prize...same as every year I've been making her the costumes to compete in and I hope this year is no different...:)

David

At least she enjoys your hobby/occupation. Be honest you guys play Batman & Robin in the bedroom don't ya? Thats what the obsession is with making new costumes, want to spice up your love life. :P

The batman costume is cool but, the guy wearing it is too fat.

Totally agree, it ruins the look

Guys...c'mon...:)
We're all fans here...regardless, and Tim the guy in that suit is a good friend of mine....I can assure you that He's not only as big a fan as the rest of us but that he looked OUTSTANDING in costume.
Costuming is about having fun....and that's what he had that whole weekend in costume at Dragon Con.

BTW...he's the Administrator over at the Brotherhood of the Bat.

I'm sure he's having fun and I don't think any of us that made comments were trying to put the guy down but in that one shot he should of at least tried to suck it in a bit. The pic with him looking directly on looks much better. One below that one is at a bad angle also though. I think any more pics he does he should just take them from straight on.

Glad to hear it, I wouldn't want to get in the bad graces of a fine artist as yourself.

Even if your friends kicked the crap out of me I think just the way it would look to people driving by would make me laugh the whole time..........even when I woke up from my coma.

wow, i cant stress what an A-hole thing that is to say. He's a friggin fan who is dressing up as batman...... what do you expect? I wonder how you'd look in a spandex batman costume? and if you ask me that guy actually looks cool in the suit, definitely has a silver age barrell chested hero thing going on.

I don't think the guy was trying to put the guy down sure it's not the most polite thing to say but there are alot of other ways he could of put it that would of made it much more degrading. Basically I think if your going to dress up like Batman and you don't have the same physique as Batman should have (hell do any of us have that?) you should make an effort to hide it. The guy was kind of letting it all hang out in that shot, he should of draped the cape around himself to give the costume (kick ass costume) a better effect.

Whoa, looking awesome! A few tiny variations from the official suit, but still looking sweet. Be sure to keep us updated as you make more progress!

Thanks everyone!!
This is really helping me along quickly.

Keep the feedback coming....dont be shy. :)
Here's what I did after DorkyFresh was cool enough to do that wicked photoshop work showing both my half and the original half side by side.

-Redid the shoulder.
-Redid the abb's. Made them more subtle and the entire rib area also redone.
-Touched up the Bat on chest.
-All rib and side details much more subtle now...hard to see unless the light causes it to cast a shadow...that's a good thing BTW.

Again, no where near being complete but I think with the comments and suggestions here we're getting closer and closer each time. Some of you notice things that I get used to seeing...and vice/versa so I really appreciate you guys taking the time to chime in!!! :)

DorkyFresh any chance you can photoshop this new pic for me and do that side by side thingamagiggie again? I'd need my half flipped to simulate the entire sculpt and the half/half with the original as you did above.

Enjoy!

LOL!!!!
No offence taken my friend. It's an honest question, that unfortunately I cant touch with a 10 ft pole...

David are you planning on finishing the suit before the movie is released, or waiting till after or nearer to it release to go over any final details?
If you're planning on finishing it before the release, any idea what the final colour you will be applying to it will be?

I noticed the updates but the shoulder still looks the same, too round. I don't meant to nitpick, I just thought I give my advice.

Looks incredible though.

Love your work.

I think the shoulder shape is fine, but it's still too thick. If you look at the official half, the shadow made by the shoulder "pad" is very VERY thin. Probably not even half an inch.
