The Punisher Ben Barnes IS Jigsaw

I usually don't like them taking too many liberties with characters but I think it worked in this case...Look forward to seeing Ben Barnes as the full on villain.

"your family may be gone Franky, but you're still my brother"

he fooled even me with that line

Barnes was pretty great at being likeable, sympathetic yet treacherous!

Hope we get to see him as Jigsaw if S2 happens!

They altered the character a lot from the comics, but in this case I think it was for the best. This is the most interesting I've seen Jigsaw in any iteration....and God lord that fight in the finale.

I haven't finished yet but I agree with what I have seen so far. I kept on forgetting Russo's ultimate fate and yep... Even I fell for that line until I caught myself.

It was actually a pleasant surprise for me to see Russo's ultimate fate...I didn't expect to see it this season for some reason.

That scream when Frank pushed his face down the broken mirror...It was absolutely terrifying and also satisfying at the same time.

I think they were so successful in making Russo such an unlikable, evil prick , that I would've been mad if we DIDN'T get to see him get Jigsaw'd by the end of this season lol

The merry-go-round scene was poetic on so many levels. A 30 minute culmination of Frank's journey. Russo being built as one of the best, most multilayered villains helped.

This version of Russo was far more compelling than his comic counterpart. Not gonna lie I ****ing cringed like a little child watching the finale. Holy ****, Frank!

That finale was incredibly brutal and satisfying in so many ways. I really can't wait to see what they do with Jigsaw in the next season. Ben Barnes was really solid as Billy Russo and I found it interesting how they made him so likable at first. I'm glad to see they didn't hold back on his fate either.

Damn...Jigsaw is a straight up assassin, hidden blade and all huh? :D I agree that the liberties taken with the character for the show have worked great. This is a far more interesting take than generic New York wiseguy gets his face all ****ed up and gets ******** at the same time. It's just not a very interesting take, but Jigsaw isn't a very interesting character. Anything to expand on that is a solid move. But let's be honest... anything is better than that turd that Dominic West brought to the screen in War Zone. Jesus he and his brother "Looney Bin Jim". Haha! That's simply a community warning of what happens to you when you mess around with Courtney Stodden...super fast deteriorating clap. :lmao:

I like tying his and Franks final battle at the Central Park Merry-go-Round.

That grind into the glass is how I pictured it back in the day, reading the Zeck comic.

And I did like that they gave Frank an enemy with the same skillset and resources. After War Zone, I was worried they would get campy with him, but I was happy with Ben Barnes in Westworld, did a great job here to. That "Anvil Closeout" was a great sequence.

They went with infinitely better backstory compared to the original. Him being a friend of Frank raises the stakes of the betrayal. Having Russo as a tier 1 operator also gives him a skill set better eqipped to give Frank grief.

The personal darkness of being an orphan with abandonment issues and fighting his way to the top makes him more grounded and human. Maybe even a bit sympathetic. But being messed up before the incident possibly serves only a platform for his madness.

Really looking forward to seeing the direction they are taking the character. And, yes, the final showdown was cathartic, satisfying and poetic. Looking forward to seeing both Frank and Billy in the future.

Having finished the show I really liked how they handled Russo and can't wait to see how he is as a full fledged Jigsaw.

You know, maybe he is a bastard son of a Mob boss, so they can link him to the Mob if they go a Nicky Cavella route in season 2

I'd like that very much, do you think Netflix would go super dark and show Cavella peeing on Frank's families' remains?

Hard to be sympathetic to him the way he treated his invalid mother, whether she was an absentee mother who gave him up for adoption or not.

I had no sympathy for his mother, but I also had no sympathy for him either. The important thing the show did was make me understand Billy's actions. I could follow why he made the decisions he did and where it was coming from, rather than him just being a purely greedy and vain individual like most other iterations have depicted him.

I understand Billy Russo's actions. It's the darker side of human nature. Dude wanted to get paid, and he did it the fastest, easiest and best way he knew how. He came up through the system. He didn't come from money, but he wanted all those things.
