Benedict Cumberbatch is Doctor Strange

Something is off with these pics...the costume and makeup is on point. However I think it's the photography. Kinda reminds me of a Sears studio photo. I edited the lighting to look less campy.

And now you can't see any of the costume. If they had released it like this, everyone would be complaining that they're trying to obscure the costume. Cumberbatch's head also now looks a bit plastic.

I appreciate the effort, but the pics are now way to dark, you can't see any details of the costume, and Cumby looks like he's wearing fake tan

I like the adaptation that's going on here a lot. The whole thing looks more like some kind of traditional "Eastern" styled robes of ceremony more than a "super hero costume" while still at first glance making any one familiar with the comics say, "Oh, that's Dr. Strange." Great job. Strange has a hell of a cast and this reveal just adds to the positive vibe the film is giving off so far.

Glad to see somebody say this. It was weird reading people acting like it's just like his comic costume, lol.

These are amazing pics, I'm excited for this movie I feel it's going to be a great movie and a different take on mutant kind with him being a Sorcerer and all, also Benedict is absolutely gorgeous

Maybe he is, and that second picture isn't him conjuring a spell but practising his Tango moves for Strictly Come Dancing/ Dancing With the Stars.

Oh my gosh he looks so perfect, I can't wait!

It's interesting that he is involved in dimensions. I wonder if this is how marvel will adapt "what ifs" to the cinematic world?

He looks awesome!!! I'm wondering if they are going to CGI his cape.

That would be so crazy. Maybe we'll see alternate dimension characters like Squadron Supreme (would be funny if Marvel did a grim-n-gritty "realistic" take if they brought them to the MCU).

I'm most excited for these kinds of scenes:

Is there a textless version of this? I want it as my wallpaper! :)

haven't seen one yet.

With the Civil War Entertainment Weekly pics it seems like it took about a week for the HQ/unwatermarked copies of the images to make their way online. So I wouldn't be surprised if it was about the same time frame for these DS pics

Awesome thanks

to think that there were people doubting the casting of Cumby... unbelievable

I'm really digging up an old thread here but here goes....

Ok don't get me wrong, I love Benedict (almost as much as I love Hiddleston) but I think he wasn't the right fit for Doctor Strange. Personally, I would cast Daniel Pudi in the role of Strange mainly because of Evil Abed in Community. Pudi would be a great fit for the role and add more diversity in the MCU, I also feel like Cumberbatch should be playing a villain (star trek ruined me). My reasoning may also be because I can't see Cumberbatch as anything other than Sherlock and Spock, I feel that if Marvel is trying to introduce a new character they should introduce someone lesser known from other works to fully associate the name of Doctor Strange with. I do agree that casting a big name actor such as Cumberbatch promotes the movie as all of the fangirls will go and see it, but Marvel (even though this is extremely unfair) Marvel wouldn't have to pay as much and focus on the important parts of a movie that's about a sorcerer... SFX! To conclude, I thoroughly believe Daniel Pudi better fits the role, can fully adopt the face of MCU's Doctor Strange and be more financially beneficial for Marvel than Benedict Cumberbatch.

based on the latest trailer/tv spot Benedict sounds like he's developed an Americain accent particularly New Yoker .

FYI: Benedict will be on Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow/Thursday (October 20th)

I'll hope they post the youtube I work until midnight tomorrow :(

He was great in this. Looking forward to seeing more of him.

From all the actors who played a superhero role he is on par or maybe even better than RDJ as Stark which is really saying something as RDJ as Stark is or was my fav character but he has been dethroned by this guy. It's the total package, from costume design to his looks to his gravitas his acting his embodiment of the character so commanding it's mesmerizing.

Marvel hit the jackpot with this one.

Totally agreed. A few years from now, he'll no longer be "that Sherlock guy".

I think what makes it work is how much fun he's having promoting this thing, he's been doing so much **** for this role it's crazy. Years ago he was kinda viewed as this fanboy fave, nothing but gravitas deep roles type, but he has fun with it.

He really does have fun and gets into it, it's fun watching the behind the scenes of him moving around for motion capture as Smaug for the hobbit films.
