Benedict Cumberbatch is Doctor Strange

Great actor, great choice. My only concern is that he's a bit too good looking and 38 is a bit too young but he's a great actor so w/e.

Also, Dormammu should be Keith Szarabajka. He's done screen acting but he's mostly known as a voice actor who's great at deep, demonic voices. I can easily see him doing mocap for the role.

Sonny Chiba should be The Ancient One since Pat Morita has been dead for a decade now.

This is not good casting.

It's freakin great casting!

Those eyes, that body type, the hair, the acting ability, and that voice (perfect for casting spells).

Marvel knocks it out the park again.

Oooh Sonny Chiba, I like that.

Did I miss the eating of crow by those that kept denying this was going to happen? :yay:

idk, I haven't seen the reaction of Six yet

can we now get Jonny Lee Miller in the MCU and have him, Cumby and RDJ in one scene, please?

If I were 10 years younger I'd be on tumblr obsessing over him along with the other fangirls. Cumberbatch makes this film a must see in theaters.

What's to stop you? Age is just a number.

Yay! Finally there's been decision made that put an end to the 6 month long rumour mill and the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch is Doctor Strange blows my mind! Not only that but this has been one hell of a week for comic book news! O my, I'm going to be giddy for days if not weeks! ^-^

Am I right in thinking The Imitation Game hasn't been released in the US yet? Anyone remotely curious about seeing Benedict Cumberbatch at his best really must go see this movie. He gives an utter powerhouse performance in it.

BC is the best actor in the world. I am a huge fan of his work and have wanted him in the MCU for several years. This is a great get for Marvel.

And pizza is the best food in the world, right?

Well by the time you see it in theaters he will be 40 and I don't see how that's too young at all. RDJ was just 43 when IM1 came out. I don't think 3 years is very noticeable once you're past 35-40 or so.

I really, really want to see TIG. BC's press tour has been epically winning, and the movie itself looks great.

Also, I *told* y'all that he was totally pulling a Paul Rudd during his interviews! Coy bastard.

Figures. Something had to balance out my joy at Boseman being cast as Black Panther. Oh well. It'll be interesting to see which accent he uses.

I have actually never seen Cumberbatch in anything. So I'm excited because I know he has a lot of fanboy (mostly fan girl, actually) love, so I'm sure this will get people excited but I still don't really know what to expect.

You should really check out Sherlock, where Cumberbatch plays the famous literature detective. He is brilliant as Holmes and I think you'll be convinced that he's the right person to be Dr. Strange.

I mean to me all the complaints I've been hearing about how he's "too on the nose" has me both rolling my eyes and excited.
"On the nose" is totally fine. If he's going to be a great fit and we all know it, what is there to fear?
I've heard nothing but good things about Sherlock, I'm sure I'll get around to watching it at some point. Unfortunately I'm a little too busy for the next few months to fit all that much into my schedule, so it'll be a while but I'll remember your recommendation when the time comes

Awesomeness is what to expect. :woot:

Seriously, though, make the effort to watch the first series of SHERLOCK, and then see him in 12 YEARS A SLAVE (it's a small part but he's effective in it.) and then see him in STAR TREK ID. He's got presence up the yin-yang and his voice is like iron wrapped in silk. The voice alone make me want to hear the classic incantations, but what's more, I think Strange is a little unlike any part he's played before and I really want to see how he handles the portion where Strange breaks his hands, spirals downward only to seek a cure in the East and then train with the Ancient One. While Sherlock and Strange share a certain amount of regard for themselves, it's Strange that gets humbled, and THAT is what I would like to see. Strange, ideally in a film, should go through a really strong evolution, from arrogant man of medicine to being open minded about the world of magic and the supernatural. I can't wait to see what he does with the part.

Oh dang you're right, I saw him in Star Trek. I completely forgot that he was Kahn! Yeah I guess my nerd credentials aren't as solid as I would've thought lol.
Yeah, he was definitely good from what I remember but I saw it once in theaters and there isn't a lot I remember about that movie truth be told.

Now Cumberbatch will do the usual "I'm excited to join the Marvel Universe and to play Dr. Strange, but I can't say much" that all MCU actors say.
