Again, voted for Wolverine, easy choice for me. My 2nd choice would be surprisingly Iron Man 3. Even with all its stupidities it IS quite a ride, watched it about 4 times now.

It has been a pretty ho-hum year all told. I have yet to see TTDW yet but I kinda am doubting now that it'll break away from the pack. I've seen good(IM3), ok(KA2 and MoS) and nice attempt but no cigar(TW) but none of them really rung that bell for me like TA/IM1. IM2, KA and Cap1 did in their years. Right now Gravity is saving the year for me in film and I have a lot of faith that Hobbit2 and Anchorman2 will as well.

Agreed. While I can understand it not being everyones taste in subject matter, Its a near perfect film for what it wants to be. And actually stronger then the comic.

Oh definitely, the comic was okay, but the movie improves on it so much and makes things much better, like the resolution of Big Daddy's story, thought he was a prick in the in the comic, but in the movie I was nearly in tears in his last scene.

I like both ideas. While I really liked how it went down in the film, there's something to be said for the way it was in the comic as well. Now some may call it mean spirited or what not but you know what? I enjoy mean spirited stuff sometimes. That's the whole point of all this fiction. Being able to vicariously enjoy that which we can't have in the real world. I can enjoy the irony of Big Daddy doing all this evil crap while justifying it all with some sappy excuse and then BANG!...they hit you with how much of a slimeball he really is when his true motivations are revealed.

I can enjoy rooting for the bad guy sometimes or the pure jerk or whatever. It's variety. And none of it is real anyhow so no big deal. Just as I can enjoy an IP that doesn't take the "all stories have a happy or pleasant ending" approach. Sometimes I just want to see a reflection of the mire of real life in a more fantastical setting. I can root for a Walter White even though by every standard definition of morality he's an evil fiend. That's why that character even exists.

^I see what you are saying but in the comic I just couldnt forgive BD putting his daughter through all of that just because he wanted to as a comic fan, his death was justified in the comic and it made me hate the character.

In the movie he had a genuine reason to train Mindy as a killer and although elements of it were still wrong he had a pretty damn good reason for going after the bad guy and getting Mindy to help. When he died in the movie I was honestly sad, when he died in the comic I thought he got what he deserved, I much prefer the way the movie did it as it gave both BD and HG more sympathy.

Anyway, this is a discussion for another thread. I did like KA2 though, thought it was really good how they furthered the story and characters.

Thor: The Dark World bested them all. Mainly thanks to Loki.

Really can't choose. Thor Dark World and The Wolverine are tied for me.

Should be seeing TDW again in the next few days, then I will vote, still think MOS will get it for me though, on the 1st viewings of TDW and MOS I enjoyed MOS much more, see what happens with the 2nd viewing of TDW though.

The Wolverine, the third act went too far. Overall, it was so well done, though. Jackman, was as good as he has been.

Thor: The Dark World was good. All the rest sucked.

Smurfs 2, Bullet to the Head, 2 Guns and The Amazing Adventures of the Living Corpse were all comic book movies that were released this year.

GI Joe is based on a toy.
Some might suggest that Oblivion is based on a comic...but that was being developed as a comic with the intention of turning it into a movie...and it ended up getting picked up as a film before the comic was ever done (and the comic was never actually done), so it doesn't count.

1. Iron Man 3 9.5/10
2. The Wolverine 9/10
3. Thor: The Dark World 8.5/10
4. Man of Steel 6.5/10

RIPD was god awful. By far the worst Comic book movie of 2013.

The best is Man of Steel

Having not seen Kick Ass 2, GI Joe Retaliation or Thor: The Dark World, I rank the films like this:

1. Man of Steel (9 out of 10)
2. Wolverine (8 out of 10)
3. Red 2 (6 out of 10)
4. Iron Man 3 (5 out of 10)
5. RIPD (0 out of 10)

LOL 0/10 is like "not actually a film"

gotta be 0.0000001/10

Man of Steel

The Wolverine

Thor: The Dark World

Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3 and it really isn't close. The hate this movie gets from some in the fanboy community is a jape.

Yup.

While I do think some of the criticisms are valid, it just points to the hypocrisy of fanboys as a whole. When a film like Iron Man 3 has it's own voice and intentions and doesn't just stick the rules it gets spat upon. When a traditional superhero film comes out they whine it doesn't do anything new. Thor: TDW being the relevant example.

I saw MOS on BD last night, I am now 95% sure it is going to be my number 1 this year but I will be seeing TDW again in the next few days so will vote for sure then. MOS pretty much has it now though.

Well, just saw TDW, and yep, MoS remains tops for me this year. Whoever said we're spoiled for CBM's these days to be disappointed in this year's offerings, well, you're right. I am spoiled. That's what happens you raise the bar - you raise expectations. I'd rather get one or two great CBM's a year than 4 or 5 "fine" ones as I feel we got this year. But oh well, some years are just weaker than others. *shrug*

Well, I was disappointed this year and MOS remains to be my favorite among the choices here.

It's between TTDW and IM3 for me. I gotta see TTDW again to finalize how I feel since when I saw it last night it was so late I kept nodding off(not the film's fault, I just starve myself of sleep sometimes). Had the same problem with MoS. I do know that Loki is the best thing in TTDW which some people said about the first film as well but I didn't think it nearly as noticeable as it was here. Not sure if I like TTDW better than Thor1(gave that one an 8/10) as a lot of the exposition in TTDW was off putting to me. I'm not a big fan of exposition info dumps in movies. I gave Thor1 more of a pass on this due to it being the first film and the crux of that movie not centering around some maguffin-y type plot device that means nothing to me.

New list (Thor added)

1. Man of Steel - 8/10
2. Kick-Ass 2 - 8/10
3. The Wolverine - 7/10
4. Thor: The Dark World - 7/10
5. Iron Man 3 - 6/10

Man of Steel wins for me.
