They don't really make a lot of concert films anymore, at least none that I know of, but are there any concert films that you liked?

For me, the only one I've truly seen is Prince's Sign O' the Times movie and I liked it.

Scorsese's Rolling Stones documentary will be the best. But until that comes out, the best are:

Woodstock
Elvis On Tour
Chuck Berry: Hail, Hail Rock 'N' Roll
Gimme Shelter
Elvis: That's The Way It Is
The Last Waltz
The Song Remains The Same
The Kids Are Alright

Bruce Springsteen:Live In NYC

The Bob Dylan documentary directed by scorsese was great.

Also, the woodstock one and the john lennon and the plastic ono band performance in 1968 were unique.

Gimme shelter is great too.

I haven't seen it, but it's not really a concert movie.

Well, not really because the movie its about a lot of things in Bob Dylan Career and with a lot of interviews, but it has some concert moments in dylan's early days and it was pretty good.

Also, the title is not direction home.

Don't know if it counts but, Sonic Youth in 1991: The Year Punk Broke.

I know. I had a teacher who was a Dylan fanatic and he was going to show us it in music class. I was so ****ing pissed when the principal said no. :cmad:

SOOO good. i would count it...even though it's more a tour documentary.
in the same vein i'd say Another State of Mind (though that wouldn't count i'm sure since it's more docu then show footage)

right now i have to say Negative Approach - fair warning vol 1. 3 live shows from, imo, the best and and one of the most important hardcore bands of the early 80s.

That's what most concert movies are. Concert movies are basically live performances mixed in with backstage footage.

Another good, despite the fact that it wreaks with 1970s' cheese, is ABBA In Concert.

The only ones I've seen were just tapings of concerts, so they don't really count.

neil young rust never sleeps, white stripes under blackpool lights, iggy pop live in detroit.
