I guess I'm one of the few that likes Die Hard 2 more than the third and fourth film. Though I enjoyed those movies overall too.

You can see the natural decline in stretching the original concept out to five films although only the last one is truly terrible, IMO.

You're not alone. I'm right there with you man.

McClane in a shopping mall that is something, him taking on bad guys in a shopping mall especially at Christmastime that would be something to do especially putting him in a scenario where he is on his own with no help from no sidekicks or nothing similar to the first Die Hard where he was all on his own

This was done already in Paul Blart Mall Cop.

I really like Die Hard 2, and don't think it deserves the flak it often gets. Vengeance edges it out for me though because I liked Irons and Jackson so much, and I thought the story was better. If I was to rate the movies;

Die Hard - 10/10
Die Hard 2 - 8/10
Die Hard with a Vengeance - 9/10
Die Hard 4 - 6.5/10
Die Hard 5 - 2/10

I wanna say Vengeance is my favorite, but just barely over the first. Vengeance is just too much fun, especially with Sam Jackson.

I've been pondering a possible director for DH6:

-Doug Liman.
-Brad Bird.
-Christopher McQuarrie.
-Antoine Fuqua.

Die Hard. Not only the best film in the series, but the best action movie of all time.

And also a great Christmas movie!

I can't choose between Die Hard and Die Hard 3

I'm a little biased towards With a Vengeance since it was technically the first DH I saw when I was a kid. I only saw the original afterwards along with the rest of the sequels (not DH 5 and never plan to). I can live without Die Hard 2 and 4 even though they weren't too bad.

If anything Live Free or Die Hard was miles better than A Good Day to Die Hard, Die Hard 4 always gets a lot of flack but I feel like it was underrated not to mention A Good Day to Die Hard wasn't so bad but what I think made it bad was the CGI sequences and the fact that they tried to make it like a video game because if they hadn't done that and had just focused on the action scenes more without using CGI and focusing more on McClane rather than on his son Jack so much then I think that would have made Die Hard 5 better

But if anything With a Vengeance is by far the best out of the 5 if you ask me other than the original which stands the test of time as being one of the greatest action movies of all time but also one of the best Christmas movies of all time but With a Vengeance why it is so good is because of the fact that they had Samuel L Jackson as McClane's sidekick but also the back and forth banter between the 2 of them that chemistry that bond is what made the movie but also having Jeremy Irons as the villain as Hans Gruber's brother Simon he is probably the best villain in the whole Die Hard series bar none

Oh god help me...I saw the thread title, I saw the poll title, but when I saw Good Day To Die Hard...my mind just assumed it was asking for the worst one (because why include it otherwise?) so I voted for it by accident. :loco:

Ugh, worst movie...so incredibly boring and empty....

Yeah, best would definitely be the first, but I enjoy the third just about as much as the first.

A Good Day to Die Hard is not that bad not as much as all of you are making it out to be yes it is not good by Die Hard standards but hey it has its moments but yes the CGI sequences some of them were done I think perfectly while others were not but I digress but they had a good dynamic with John and his son Jack because they are so much alike but they probably should not have casted Courtney as John McClane, Jr.

-The "dynamic" between John and Jack basically consisted of them sniping at each other for most of the film, which annoying/tedious REAL quick. Also, the movie doesn't do a good job of explaining WHY Jack hates his dad so much.

-Bruce Willis clearly didn't want to be there, and John comes across as a complete callous a-hole/senial old man (which is decidedly NOT John McClane).

-The villains are generic/underdeveloped and the plot makes very little sense.

-The Editing is TERRIBLE, especially during the action scenes.

-It's too short and the pacing is also AWFUL!!

-Bad CGI.

-Etc.

It's just a mess of a film. Why they thought that John Moore and Skip Woods were the right men for the job is beyond me honestly.

There's literally nothing good about A Good Day to Die Hard, except maybe Beltrami's score. He seemed to be the only person on the production who "got" Die Hard. But like, I can't even cite decent lighting or competent editing as a "pro" for that film. It's that bad.

Die Hard 9/10
Die Hard With A Vengeance 8/10
Live Free or Die Hard 7/10
Die Harder 6.5/10
A Good Day to Die Hard 2/10

If there is a Die Hard 5, I hope Gareth Evans takes a shot at it.

Or Doug Liman, or Christopher McQuarrie, or Brad Bird, etc.

My favorite moment in Die Hard-ish.

Funny, because I seem to recall McClane hugging/being affectionate with people multiple times in the other films. Heck he was even kind of fond of Justin Long by the end of #4.

Kind wish I'd also voted for Die Hard 2 now, last time I did this poll. If only because it deserves more upvotes than Live Free and A Good Day.

Die Hard 3.

The New York environment really stands out. Some scenes looked like they hired alot of actual New Yorkers. Some scenes with the handheld camera looked real to me like the train explosion when people are fleeing

Die Hard easily with Vengeance easily in 2nd.

I figured out the water thing in Vengeance before they did. LOL. I've always been into manipulation of numbers, addition by subtraction, division by multiplication, etc.

Agree about Jackson and Irons. Those guys are almost always awesome.
