Even though I greatly enjoyed the final battle of ASM2 I couldn't fully appreciate the final battle of ASM2 (Green Goblin). The fight was intense and the moment of Gwen's death was heart breaking but the pacing was WAY off with Goblin showing up the moment Electro is defeated so I am not given a moment to process the previous fight before I am flung into another climax. So (for me), it was climax upon climax and I am not going to enjoy that as much as a climax that builds and builds.

SM1 looks so fake now, and I still can't figure where GG pulled his magical fork from, that was so lazy *shrugs*

Going with ASM2, that was one "electrifying" battle with the main theme constantly being played during the sequence.

Magical fork lol now I need to go back and watch sm1 again and see what happened exactly with thee fork.

Best - Spider-Man 2. Ock vs Spidey is a visual treat. The city being sucked into Ock's reactor was awesome. Ock's emotional sacrifice. MJ seeing Peter unmasked. The homage to the Master Planner arc of Spidey holding up Ock's collapsing lair etc. Best of the best.

Worst - TASM 2. CGI fest Electro fight. Dubstep. Horrible looking Goblin in a rushed Goblin fight. Gwen's death was ruined because it was her own fault. She shouldn't have been there, should have listened to Peter in the first place, and it's also her fault Harry figured out Spidey was Peter.

Pretty much this, with SM1very close second.

My order is;

SM1 - Brutal and gripping. A climax that builds from cable car to the cemetery. Brilliant. My favourite CBM climax by miles.

ASM2 - Gripping. Spidey trying to keep Gwen alive whilst holding off Goblin.
Climax is let down by the pacing and rushed nature of Goblin's appearance.

SM2 - Great story arc conclusion for the hero and villain. I didn't think it was much of a fight but from a story point of view the themes that are built over the course of the entire movie are played out brilliantly but it is a comic book movie so the story themes also have to be backed up by strong action and for me the action peaks with the train fight.

ASM - Serviceable. I wasn't that engaged by the climax if I am being honest.

SM3 - Absolutely horrible. I was bitterly disappointed by the Stay-Puff Sandman, the Goblin team was forced and Venom was a joke. Absolute rubbish.

My favourite to last favourite

Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 1 tied
Spider-Man 3
ASM
ASM2

ASM ones were the worst.

TASM2. Electro fight was visually stunning but nothing so special about it but Goblin fight despite being too short was very intense and beautifully choreographed. And Hanz Zimmer's Goblin theme was perfect. The fight should've been longer though. But anyway, my vote goes to TASM2.

The worst is Spider-Man 3. Just horrible. Then Spider-Man 1 (Jesus, Raimi was awful with the fight scenes in his first movie).

Thank you. Yeah I'd put SM-1 second place. The only things it's lacking is the visual delight and the level of emotional resonance of SM-2's ending. Things which the awful TASM ones lacked big time.

Tasm2 for sure

Visual feast followed by tense chase that it punctuated by the best acting in a spiderman film ever, Garfiled knocked it out to the park. Had everything a good fight scene neeeded.

True. I was 10 when SM1 came out. I remember thinking during that fight 'man Norman is going to kill Spidey'.

Likewise. In terms of raw brutality, nothing tops that fight, not even the spectacular Ock fights. It's one of the grittiest fights ever put into a CBM. Definitely deserves second spot to SM-2's for these reasons. The blood, and saliva, and the bone crunching sound of the blows. Loved it.

Misery, misery, misery...that's what you've chosen. I offered you friendship and you spat in FACE!

A shame that the other Spider-Man movies ruined almost all the good work Raimi did in his first two efforts.

TASM2 because it was the best visual effects in a spidey movie that we ever seen. You also really got to see how freaking awesome and strong Spider-Man was for him to be able to take all that damage with the electricity and what-not, he really is a super-human. The colors were amazing and made the action fun to watch, and spidermans acrobatics and fighting style along with the slow motion integrated into the scenes made it feel like I was watching an actual epic battle ripped straight from the comics. And the goblin fight, although short, was the most intense spiderman battle scene I have ever seen. It was pretty violent, and it only surpasses the train battle by just a little bit. The way the green goblin would laugh and chase spiderman with his glider around the inside of the clocktower was so intense, I was on the very edge of my seat inhaling back my popcorn the entire time. And then it resulted in the epic and tragic conclusion of the death of Gwen Stacy. It was so heartbreaking. That fight scene and the tragic ending to it was THE BEST footage from a Spider-Man that I have ever seen, it was better than how I imagined it would be, it was that intense and awesome.

As horrible as they were, more so the TASM movies, other bad movies don't stop good movies from still being good movies.

Hopefully the woeful TASM franchise will soon be over and nothing but a bad memory.

I really liked the SM1 end battle. It was really brutal. But Tobey Maguires stupid face and the sounds he would make just made it laughable after a couple times watching. He was such a doofus in those movies.

I love that line. That is real memorable villain dialogue. Not like ASM villains forgettable lines.

I would never let the bad ASM movies ruin the other brilliant Spider-Man movies for me.

There's also that. The guy can't act decently :funny:

Tobey has won awards for playing Spider-Man. Andrew has won none. He deserves none.
