Best Main MCU Villain?

My top 5 best MCU movie villains:

1) Loki
2) Ultron
3) The Winter Soldier
4) The Mandarin
5) The Red Skull

These five villains have been great, with rich performances and fine acting. Honorable mentions go to Aldrich Killian, Alexander Pierce, and Obadiah Stane.

My top 5 MCU TV villains:

1) The Kingpin
2) Mr. Hyde
3) Agent Grant Ward
4) The Absorbing Man
5) Blizzard

There have been a lot of Marvel movie villains both in the MCU and in Marvel films at other studios. In my opinion, the villains who have really achieved greatness as top-tier comic book film antagonists would be Magneto, Loki, Dr. Octopus, Ultron, the Mandarin, the Winter Soldier, and Mystique.

Top 5:

1) Loki
2) Ronan
3) Red Skull
4) Abomination
5) The Winter Soldier

1) Loki
2) Mandarin
3) Ultron
4) Justin Hammer

According to me-

3- Ronan the Accuser
4- Aldrich Killian
5- Ultron

My top 5 as of now

I thought Iron Monger/Jeff Bridges was great. Probably the best Iron Man villain in all three films.

Alan Taylor

I think it's kind of unfair that people put all the blame for Thor 2's problems on Taylor's shoulders while being unwilling to accept the idea that their beloved demi-god Kevin Feige might actually have made a mistake for once. It's ironic because fans always complain that Thor 2 didn't give Malekith and the Dark Elves enough screentime while completely ignoring the fact that Taylor wanted that stuff in the movie and that it was Marvel that got him to cut it. I'm not saying we should let Taylor off the hook completely, but I don't think Feige and Co should be exonerated, either.

I'd agree with this statement. Bridges was excellent. I'm not sure why he gets overlooked so much in the villain debate.

I love Thor 2. (For probably the billionth time.)

And when people complain about villains in that film why do they always forget that there were TWO villains? Malekith with his Aether quest for the MacGuffin but the other being the very awesome Loki. Yeah he was sort of Thor's frenemy but he did A) basically hand over Asgard to the Dark Elves by telling Kurse where to go to disable their defenses B) get his own mother killed - albeit inadvertently and C) overthrow Odin and gain the throne with Thor none the wiser.

And for the record, I think Kurse was a GREAT villain even if he was just a henchman. I thought his transformation was sick and his clear ownage of Thor showed a power level we haven't seen in the MCU. How awesome would it be if Thanos resurrected him for his army in Infinity War?

But back to your point yeah Taylor did have any entire arc for Malekith that never saw the light of day. I remember Eccleston talked extensively about how this wasn't going to be your ordinary villain. I would love to know what the real reason was for excluding it. I suspect pacing was a problem and the Loki scenes trumped the Malekith ones. If it was a choice between the two I think they made the right call.

Where's Kingpin? I feel like Kingpin, Iron Monger, Ultron and Loki are the best villains. The rest are all one-dimensional but at the very least, Justin Hammer, Ronan and Red Skull were fun to watch.

And I hope that Marvel can find a way to bring Justin Hammer and Red Skull back since they both have a too much potential to be permanently dead.
I didn't include tv shows

I'd go:

A
1. Ultron
2. Loki
3. Malekith

B+
4. Ronan
5. Red Skull

B
6. Iron Monger
7. Alexander Pierce
8. Abomination

C-
9. Whiplash

F
10. Aldrich Killian

I personally love the idea of Infinity Wars reintroducing us to the likes of Red Skull, Abomination, Kurse etc, with them serving the role of admirals in Thanos' armada. Having the Avengers fight genuinely powerful beings would be a great antidote to the complaints that MCU heroes only ever fight "fodder" armies.

Yes!

I also hope to see an Avengers movie featuring the Masters of Evil someday. But I don't know how they'll pull off calling them that. Joss probably could have pulled it off somehow.

Jesus with all the criticism from has been getting over in his own thread, I didn't think that many people would think of him being a great villain.

I expect the MCU villains to be a lot stronger in phase 3. It makes sense for them to adjust the tone. Also one of the movies is called Ragnarok, so that implies a defeat.

Yeah, sure I can agree with that.

I agree. We will also get Andy Serkis Klaw in Black Panther. Thanos will finally be fleshed out hopefully. I expect this to be the best Thor film ever along with the villain. GOTG2 can go full on with a villain since we have now been introduced to the team. Nebula will be back and badder than ever. Then there's Ms Marvel. Great lineup for Phase 3. Looking forward to Baron Zemo too.

Well, now we know there's a "real" Mandarin out there, this might be more realistic than you think...

Who was the best main villain of the MCU films? I am not making Bucky a choice as he wasn't a main villain, he was a tool of Hydra and Alexander Pierce.

*Edit: I forgot to check the submit poll option, if a mod could make this into a poll I would appreciate it! :)
- Red Skull
- Iron Monger
- Whiplash
- The Abomination
- Loki
- Aldrich Killian
- Malekith
- Alexander Pierce
- Ronan the Accuser
- Ultron

Doctor Doom as he threatens on many levels.

And this is MCU. Not MU.

I won't make a top 5 cause I like all of them to verious degrees(except Malekith and Ronan) but I have to say my absolute favorite is The Winter Soldier, even though he wasn't the main villain, as a threat he was one of the scariest I've seen in a long time, it reminded me of the Terminator because of the amount of intensity he added to all of his scenes.

 Fiege and Marvel are just as much to blame for TDW. It's totally obvious Taylor wasn't happy with the final film.

Well if Taylor delivers a great Terminator film, Marvel won't be looking so hot. I'm curious to see how that turns out even if everyone else is already claiming it's a trainwreck.

On the other hand, if that film is bad, let's be fair and acknowledge that Marvel deserves credit for actually saving Thor 2. (As a fan of the film, I resent the constant bashing it gets around here but alas that's par for the course.)

It's apparent to me that Taylor and Marvel were not meant to be, but no matter what, I thought he was completely professional through the entire process. I wish him the best.

Yeah, I am still hoping for the best with Terminator, I am a huge Terminator fan, even more so than Marvel, loved it since I was a kid. In fairness the new movie looks tough to pull off, so if he has that's good.

But yeah, I just don't get why Marvel hired the GOT guy in the first place if they weren't going to let him do his thing. There was surely someone else out there more suited than Taylor to making the movie we actually got.
