I fully take on board the amount of ‘work’ that went into the planning of this, but this, and any other proposal for me, in front of public, is a no no for me, one should always propose with just the two of you present, it’s a private moment and should be dealt with in that way.

Everyone is different and every situation is different. For us, neither one of us were living alone yet. And while I'm sure there are many picturesque spots around NY/NJ, most popular places with beautiful views to propose are never really private. Not to mention, the element of surprise. "Why are we going to the beach when it's freezing out?" (I proposed in January.) Things don't always line up and you do the best as to not raise suspicions.

I won't even get into those who are extremely close to their families. I'm sure there are people out there who want to propose in front of them because it's important to them.

So options can be limited depending on your own personal experiences.
