Man, that's impossible to answer. On any given day it could be Godfather I/II, Goodfellas, or The Untouchables for me. Right now I'm not sure what I'm feeling.

But I assume your refering to the Cagney flick with Public Enemy which I've own so I'll see it soon enough. Also what about the Roaring Twenties and The Petrified Forest both equally good films. You got to hand it to Petrified Forest for really breaking ganster conventions and making a very different film. It's hard to say, since everything post-Godfather is so very grand and follows a whole different set of rules minus Mean Streets and Departed which are far more old school in execution. Sergio Leone's flick is perhaps the most beautiful and poetic in my opinion however, the film, even with it's 4 hour running time feels like it's missing something due to the fact it orignally was a 10 hour film. If I had to pick a modern gangster film it'd have to be Casino. Casino was awesome since I love the character since he was so together, and in the end it wasn't really his fault the **** fell, it was the people around him. Plus I love the ending... But if I had to pick old school... I love the romance of Petrified Forest however I got give it to Angels with Dirty faces, that ending is just so classic. So if I had to pick...

Difficult to choose, so many masterpieces in that poll. I mean, we are talking about the two godfathers, goodfellas, white heat, public enemy, key largo, Bonnie and Clyde, once upon a time in America, angels with dirty faces, scarface, etc.

I Will say godfather part two because its my personal favourite. But i could choose almost every movie in that excelent list, exept a few ones.

Some importantes absents, like long good friday( helen mirren rules) or millers crossing, and some classics with Bogart, Cagney, Robinson, Raft, Mitchum, etc.
