I meant to post something like to to those impacted by Gustav, but I was a tad late.

I just want to give my best to those impacted by Ike in the coming few days.
I know what you are going thru, as I am in Houston and am in the "cone of uncertainty".

Be safe....take off and have a long weekend somewhere.

I am not sure how you guys live with the unpredictability of Hurricanes, Tornadoes, and Earthquakes.....all we get are snow storms and ice storms....which are nothing a warm house and a TV can't fix.....

My best to all those affected by it. So they are saying the storm as not as powerful as predicted?? It's a category 2 now?? Which is still harmful, but better than initial reports of it being a 3 or 4.

I think it's a cat 2 now, but will strengthen to a 3 or 4 by the time it makes landfall.

Really?? I wasn't aware they got stronger once hitting land. I'm not familar with Hurricanes. We get tornadoes here, so I know more about them.

They don't strengthen when they hit land, I meant that it was going to strengthen before making landfall. Hopefully it stays below a 3.

Are you deciding to stay back or heading out of Houston? As weird as it sounds, I'm actually flying into Houston tomorrow noon (if my flight makes it) and then driving out to Austin.. Hopefully this stuff clears up by Sunday...
