Anyway, as it stands, my favorite scene is still when he lifts the New Krypton island & my second favorite would have to be when he went up in the sky to absorb yellow sunlight.

Those are my 2 favourite moments in the movie as well, but i would switch them for my ranking, the part were he goes above the vlouds to be bathed in sunlight is not only my favourite part of the movie, but one my favourite parts of ANY CB movie.

Yeah, it shows that Singer really wanted to stay true to where the character's powers come from.

^Exactly, and he couldnt have picked a better way to showcase were Supermans powers come from, it was just a perfect scene for me, gorgeous to look at, fantastic music, and totally uplifting emotionally.

Yes, however fantastic that scene was, the sun charge part and new K lift I still feel the plane scene was better. He could not have be introduced into the public again in a better way. Landing right into a baseball stadium.......

When he then goes inside to check on everyone....that is the Superman I know and like :)

Wonderful.

My favourite part, a part from all of it, was Lois & family sinking in the half ship, and then Superman rescuing them. The symbolism in that scene was superb. Singer's version of Superman really comes clear in that scene - he's performing miracles. And the shot of Superman supporting Richard who is holding his family was perfect. Moments like that are wonderful and convey so much in such an elegant way.

Oh, but wait, there is no fighting......what a crap movie.

Yes the ship lift was a great moment too if not followed by a lack luster lex/supes scene.

Ha ha, great post, and you have hit the nail on the head KR, its these little moments, not the big explosions (or lack of for some people).

Its these little tender moments that convey so much of the story without the need for elaborate action scene's or even words in many cases.

:whatever: I think the Lex/Supes confrontation is one of the best scene's in the movie.

It lacked any whit. There was almost no dialouge between these 2 characters.

^Dialogue wasnt needed in a confrontation like this IMO, you could see the pent-up anger in both characters faces before the first punch was thrown, and you could still see it throughout the rest of the scene.

A brilliantly emotional scene that struck the perfect tone for the dark 3rd act IMO.

I think it was. 5 years and no talk about anything of value.

In SR, facial expressions were often used to tell the story instead of words, and i think it worked very well in the movie, in this scene in particular, sometimes words just arent necessary.

Total no way there dude.

Supes facial expressions were so hindered by krypnotine all we see is pain from that, nothing else.

Not at all, you can see the pure hatred and disgust on his face when he flies over the island for the first time, and you can see the knowing look on his face when Lex first speaks to him, as if he knew who it was all along.

When he stops Lex from stamping on his face the determination to not Lex win, and this is added to when he shouts "I'm still SUPERMAN!"

Also when he gets up after being stabbed you can see the pure hatred in his face for Lex and a bit of realisation that this time Lex may have actually beaten him.

I know this will sound weird, but one of my favourite scenes was watching Superman being beaten to a pulp by Lex's goons. I think it's a real visceral scene that shows us Lex's level of hatred for him, and to just see a strong character like Superman bashed and torn down simply being a force of good and doing the right thing is very telling of the times. Superman takes on so much abuse in SR, yet at the end he's still alive and still the same everlasting beacon of hope.

I love that scene! Great post by the way. :yay:

Awesome post, Kevin. You get it. Singer gave us a mythological Superman. A powerful and benevolent god spreading mercy to the world he protects, even when he is feeling like ***** or conflicted. Very beautiful movie full of subtext everywhere you look. And as others said it, a lot of times the movie is told with the eyes and facial expressions in a very elegant and fine way. The film is also full of iconic and inspiring imagery that shows why Superman is the King of superheros!! IMO. :yay:

favorite scenes:

Supes speech to a sleeping Jason. Poetic and beautiful. Is wonderful to see Superman so overjoyed by his newly discovered fatherhood. He finds what he was so looking for: family. He feels more complete and at peace, and also ready to kick butt with even more reason if necessary!

The recharge. Breathtakingly beautiful. Amazing imagery of Superman getting power and strenght almost directly from God himself.

Lifting NK up into Space. So badass. Period. Superman risking his life to safe the world.
Actually, for me, the whole movie is my favorite scene, haha.

I have a hard time being inspired by a 'hero' who can't even do right by the woman he loves. It's way too conflicted to be inspiring. Besides, he casued all the mess in the first place. Just isn't Superman.

Great post! yeah, that scene is so fantastic and glorious, and it was more about Lex than Superman. The awesome thing is that despite the humilliation Supes received by Lex, Superman gets up and saves the world as soon as he can. Very inspiring, IMO.

While that scene was hardcore and does not lack passion by anymeans. I just thought Supes would examine the new Kryptonite island from afar before jumping right on in to it.

Great post, and fully sums up my feelings about the whole 3rd act, that scene shows that evil cannot corrupt Superman, and it finally gives us the REAL Lex Luthor thats been hiding underneath the surface of the one we got for the 1st half of the movie. This Lex is altogther more bitter and viscious, and he takes obvious delight in the beating of Superman.

But then Superman comes back, in a way only Superman can, showing us his will and determination are his best super-powers..

All great scene's, and your first paragraph is pretty dead on about the type of Superman Singer gave us. I describe this Superman as a human god, because while he has the powers and abilities of a god, he is relatably human.

While that scene was hardcore and does not lack passion by anymeans. I just thought Supes would examine the new Kryptonite island from afar before jumping right on in to it.

I dont see why he would, you can see by his face when flying over it how disgusted and pissed off he is at this corruption of his home-world, at that point he wanted nothing but to find the culprit.

Because he was raised in a happy home, hence his positive and optimistic outlook for the world. Superman is a positive thinker who always expects the best from others, and who sees hope when we have lost it.
Besides, if he did what you say, which makes sense, the movie would be over right there.
