I get that Waller TECHNICALLY wasn't THE villain in Suicide Squad, but all things considered, she was still by far the best villain of the year.

She wasn't a villain because she had ultimately just goals. She was more of a neutral, and is serving as the DCEU's Thunderbolt Ross. But she was well executed for sure.

Agreed. Waller no villain. If she was she might be contender for one of good villain this year but no good villains come from Suicide squad.

Not the best villain of the year overall but I'm getting the feeling the best one in a blockbuster film this year was a CGI Idris Elba tiger.

What a world we live in...

Shere Kahn was indeed great.

And yeah, I get why Waller isn't really a villain for the film. But in the grand scheme of things, I think I'd consider her one. Having just cause has never stopped characters like that from being used as villains before, it's just this time she was a protagonist.

Do not mess with Black Phillip, ya'll!

I also seriously thought Matt Bomer was quite good with only a few scenes in The Nice Guys. Also the surprise villain in Zootopia was solid.

It feels a bit sad that I think Francis is the second best this year, mainly on the merit of not having any really bad aspect to him.

I think Francis gets too much disregard. He's not a villain you take seriously, but he's in a comedy. "The villainous straight man" is a perfectly valid role, at which he excelled.

Yes, he did his thing. The sad part is that it's a year with many superhero movies and we've gotten characters like Apocalypse and Lex Luthor. You'd just not expect Francis to compete with what he's given to do, but he did his part much better imo.

Most important Ajax wasn't cringe-worthy (Luthor), pointless (Joker), or CGI fodder (Enchantress).

The only villain left this year is Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius. Amazing actor, but I hope he gets the good writing he deserves.

Yeah, he's my pick for villain of the year thus far, although, I wondered, if an argument could be made that he isn't a villain…

I'm also not very excited by Mikkelsen's Dr. Strange villain. Seems like Malekeith 2.0 but we'll see.

I really hope he is a good villain and stands out. Truly amazing actor. Hannibal was a blast to watch.

I want to have high hopes for him, but Marvel has wasted so many great actors in their villainous roles... :csad:

I would rank them:
1. Zemo
2. Apocalypse
3. Enchantress
4. Doomsday
5. Lex

Kills me to put Apoc at #2, but that's just how this year is.

It's pretty sad that Enchantress is number 3, isn't it? Heck, it's a little sad that Apocalypse is number 2...He was fine, but I thought he was pretty forgettable.

The only villain I've enjoyed so far this year is Zemo. I was glued the second "Cleveland" popped on the screen during his introduction.

Edit: Forgot Francis, he was pretty good..I think I'd put him and Apocalypse neck and neck.

2. Apocalypse
3. Ajax aka Francis
4. Enchantress
5. Doomsday
6. Lex Luthor

WB please take notice. I know this is just a little fan site but please reboot Lex please.

lol I don't think they read that here Timebomb, but I wish they reboot Lex too.

This scene was incredibly cool. I just wish they could have fulfilled on that premise for the rest of the movie...

I think SS did just that. I really liked the idea of a supernatural entity who was not only resentful of being manipulated by lesser beings, but offended that modernity had even replaced the awe she once inspired. That's a different type of motivation than we've seen in CBMs, and I found it refreshing.
