Surprised Francis/Ajax got that much love. If people complain about MCU villains, I don't see how he did anything really spectacular.

Ajax was refreshing in a way. He was just evil and sadistic. No world ending plans or delusions of grandeur. He was just pissed off with Wade calling him Francis. I think the hatred between him and Deadpool was believable plus they had some great dialogue and fight scenes.

But he's more of a "dragon" or right hand man, rather than main villain. There should've been a reveal at the end showing it was a weapon x offshoot or something.

Ajax is a bit under rated for me. For many of the reasons you listed.

Agreed. I think he welcome change from typical main villain.

The one thing Deadpool didn't need was a flamboyant villain. Ajax was a perfectly decent straight man.

Ajax is several pegs above Lex and Apocalyspe, no debate. I'm not familiar with that actor but he took a boring, half-baked role and turned it into something memorable.

I actually thought Ajax was kind of....charming, in an weird, kind of way, he's not memorable but the dialogue between him and Wade was really good.

He was the first actor that played Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones, which is a bit funny since there he went the opposite route as he took a flamboyant character and made it very plain (although it was really a show-runner choice since the actor that followed is just as plain).

I liked how the whole "what's my name?" running gag. Had a great pay off at the end.

It sums up my love of Deadpool. It's small scale and personal. It's about 2 guys who hate each other... That's it. No contrived end of the world scenario. More films need to start scaling it down. Suicide Squad should've taken a cue from Deadpool.

Serviceable at least to me.

My point was the whole MCU Villain thing.

If you want to see good villains, watch Luke Cage. The show is full of them.

After seeing X:A, my top 3 for 2016 (excluding TV) are:

1. Apocalypse
2. Enchantress
3. Crossbones

Now that Dr. Strange has been released, does that change your rankings of this year's villains?

It doesn't change who wins for me (Zemo) but he does come in second place. Not that he was particularly stand out but Francis didn't really have much to him, and the rest were just really bad.

Zemo, easily. Luthor was so crappy he shouldn't even be an option.
