TDKR is a better movie, but nothing about it struck me as being especially DKR. And I say this as someone whose favorite Batman comic is DKR. Affleck's take on Bruce is far closer to DKR Bruce. TDKR's similarities were rather superficial. Now, maybe if Bane set off his bomb and turned Gotham into post-apocalyptic ground zero, yeah. But that would probably be too grim since the citizens would be dying a slow death from radiation poisoning when you think about it - so them rising up against Bane would be more in line with trying to live your last days to their fullest, which could be an incredibly uplifting message.

TDKR is a better film, but BvS was closer to DKR, imo.

I preferred TDKR to BvS on first viewing but I am liking BvS more with each viewing and liking TDKR less with each viewing.

Can we stop it with the whole Dark Knight Returns please? I'm starting to wish that book was never written.

Possibly my favourite graphic novel of all time. Can't decide whether I like TDKR or Watchmen more.

Why not just avoid threads related to it then?

TDKR is the better film for me but to give BVS its due it did have more iconic images from that particular comic I guess being a more "comic booky" film with images like the lightning behind Bats and so on. Snyder knows how to make some things "look" good at least and CBM's are very image orientated.

Still the animated version of the Dark Knight Returns trounces both if you really want to see that particular vision on screen.
