Live audiences on eviction nights!
Live audiences on eviction nights!
That's pretty pointless if evictions aren't done by public vote, like it is in every other version.
^ True. Big Brother US is the only version of Big Brother that currently doesn't use the public voting.
We need evictions like this:
<3 Charley <3

The problem with public voting is that it becomes nothing more than a popularity contest. If I remember correctly, the original US version was public voting.
The other thing about the UK version that makes it so awesome is that they do a great job of casting great characters and diverse personalities compared to the travesty that is BBUS that casts 13 white people and one black person every season. :eyes
That is all it's ever been except for the very first UK series, which was supposedly a "social experiment".![]()
The first U.S. season was public nominations. The houseguests then voted.
The problem with season 1 was not the public voting... the cast just sucked! There was absolultely nothing that could have saved that mess bc they were all so boring with the exception of maybe Will "Mega" and Eddie. Besides the production value marketted this show as a family show and had a "good" feel instead of catering to the drama, sex and outrageousness of later seasons. Besides, even if they were to implement public voting like with other countries, it would never work. For something like that, you'd have to have BB on every day and the show isnt as popular here in the US so I cant see CBS devoting airtime to it every night. Maybe if it were on the level of Survivor or American Idol but its not.The problem with public voting is that it becomes nothing more than a popularity contest. They did things differentyly for the first few weeks of this year's Australian edition. They actually took some of the US elements. The public voted for who was nominated, but the house voted on who was evicted. They had an HoH, but they're power was essentially as a veto winner and could save 1 person.Every where else in the world it's the other way round, the Housemates nominate, the public evicts.
Cheeselover I think you're confused. The first US Big Brother, the housemates voted for two people to be nominated, and everyone with the highest amount of votes were put up for eviction, then America voted on who they wanted to evict.
It worked the same way as the international versions.
