The Dark Knight Big Rig Acrobatics?

This is slightly off topic, but I just wanted to mention that Gotham at this point has possibly been evacuated due to the Joker's crime spree. In ALL these pictures and footage, you really don't see any other people (except Joker goons) or vehicles. My point is all the sequences of the Joker, including the 'mad Joker' photo with the crumpled up Big Rig behind him, could very well take place at way different points in the movie. If Gotham has indeed become a battle ground, I doubt the police or anyone else would be able to remove the carnage and wreckage left behind by the Joker, including police choppers and the Slaughter Semi.

thats a good point, i noticed how empty the city looked in most of these scenes, so yea its possible

hmm ok

(\/ but if only the guy below was clapping slower would be great)

:applaud

I appreciate the less-than-intelligently diguised insult, there pal. Apparently you aren't familiar with the other acrobat whose parents got killed. That acrobat became Batman's sidekick.

not! :cwink:

I know its probably already been said and is off topic by now, but the little spike bombs bats used in the cop car chase in Begins, that did the same effect as it would the Tractor Trailer.

Damn pot holes!

my moneys on a pot hole for some reason, i dont know, remembering how powerful those pot holes were in begins and the fact its all in front of that wayne building, seems like it could be them

Personally, I think it is some sort of mines or a similar device which causes the semi to flip over. If it was a rocket or something, I'm pretty sure the movie crew would have lit the truck on fire as it flipped. Nolans tries to use as little CGI as possible. So that means that a rocket is likely not the cause.

The scene could easily play out with Bats on the batpod driving under the semi, and implanting a bunch of mines or mine-like devices. Alternatively, bats could litter the road with them and Joker might not see them. There are several possibilities here.

As for the compressed gas or "smoke" following the truck all the way down, I think that can be explained. As I understand it, when the stunt was done a pneumatic ram/cannon was attached to the truck's chassis and enormous pressure caused the semi to lift off and flip over. The compressed gas obviously followed the truck on the way down, since the pneumatic device was attached to the truck, and not to the ground. The stunt was also done with a set of steel "teeth" attached to the front end of the truck. As it flipped, the teeth literally bit into the ground preventing the truck from flying sideways or flying in an awkward angle. Obviously as seen in the trailer, the teeth have been digitally removed and cannot be seen.

The shot from the trailer likely isn't 100% finished, but if it is, that means at the very least something (in the movie) was attached to the semi, which would explain the gas/smoke following the semi down. In a few months we will know for sure.

One thing I have to point out is that, at least from the trailer, the truck does not appear to have been blown up or otherwise burned from the flip. It looks simply crumpled, a consequence of its somersault. If the shot is truly "unfinished" and an explosion will be added in, shouldn't truck be blackened/on fire? The Joker, also, would be killed in such an explosion, yet he emerges alive along with a goon (you can see the goon in the background of the Wizard pic.)

I think it truly is a gadget that the Batpod employs - perhaps some kind of hydraulic mine or some other goodie that propels the truck from underneath, trying to contain the damage (an exploding truck would certainly lead to some casualties, something Batman wants to avoid.)

WTF? The shot was probably unfinished, the explosions will be put in by CGI later on. As for the city being a battle ground I was reading the auditioning slides, in one of them the has the people fighting about getting on a boat. It does seem that Gotham is evacuated at some stage, when the Joker causes too much trouble. After the Narrows attack who'd wanna stay around? http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/...n Script Leaks/?action=view&current=tdk18.jpg

Oh thats called humor ^

Ok so I totally had an epiphany last night while watching Blue's Clues :ninja:... :hehe:

A magnetized & pressurized mine that is shot underneath the truck with the Batpod, quickly attaches to the bottom, then Batman does a nice turn with the bike, poses for the camera, then detonates it. Voila!

Definitely unfinished shots. You can still see Chicago on the sign. I'm sure it's not as noticable when the shot is moving but it's definitely there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that a birthday cake on the side of the truck??

I don't know I'm seeing things then, I'm trying to make out the design/ad on the side of the truck
