The Dark Knight Biggest Disappointment

I wouldn't necessarily call it disappointing, but it did take me off-guard: the alternate takes used in place of what we've said in earlier trailers and pics. Like the Joker card being safety-pinned to the fake Batman among other little things. And they should've showed Joker's full reaction to firing the bazooka like they did in the December trailer.

katie holmes' absence. her being replaced by someone else (no matter how good; and i personally didnt like maggie's performance) is the only imperfection in this movie to me.

i felt that it got a tad too melodramatic at the end, and some of the scenes were cut too abruptly.

SPOILER ALERT........

i.e Gordon being shot

I think Maggie did a very good imitation of Katie Holmes

I think that even if maggie replicated katie exactly... the fact that she looks so different is enough to ruin it for me.

Some of the editing seemed...off. Too many quick cuts, didn't "feel" nolan/pfister-esque. If that makes sense.

"Universally accepted that Ledger's Joker was spot on. But Batman... there wasn't a heck of a lot there. I just didn't feel that much excitement around Batman. I don't know what it was, but I think the character was a lot more interesting when he was learning the ropes from Ra's Al Ghul and developing his persona. In this one... there really seemed like something was lacking. "

The reason why something is lacking with batman is because they treated him like some common joe in a costume. Batman in the comic book is the greatest detective in the world and one of the best fighters on earth. No where in the darknight do you get the feeling that criminals see him in such a light. Nolan stripped batman of his "comic book magesty" and now you have mobsters like falcony laughing at batman and people questioning why he runs around in a stupid costume.

I honeslty felt that people did not respect or fear batman in this film. They feared the joker because he killed people. I know you guys will say that was the point of the film. But never in the comic book were villans not intimidated by him.

I think the quick cuts were done on purpose to leave the audience breathless but instead it did nothing but disorient me. lol

Black mask......nuff said.

Where was the Two Face action!?!?!?

also, why was the music extremely loud?

I love how people love to nit pick every little thing wrong. Don't concern your selfs with the disappointments , just enjoy it for what it is. I mean come on, the joker didn't laugh enough!, who gives a S!@#.

Anticlimatic ending and Two Face was wasted as a whole.

Biggest Disappointment? Probably this thread of ridiculous nitpicking, but that's just me....:whatever:

What? The Joker always welcomed bat-mans challenge. The only comic instance i can think of where Joker is fearfully intimidated by batman is in The Dark Knight Returns when he snaps his own neck, but then it wasnt fully in fear either.

Some of the dialogue was hard to hear over the bombastic music especially at the end.

Would've preferred the ending to have a bigger action climax.

Not being able to see Heath reprise Joker in future sequels.

1. Crane. They were able to secure Cillian Murphy for the sequel yet only placed him in one scene. A Joker-Scarecrow team up would have been fantastic, as would Joker under fear gas before killing Crane.

2. Joker. We'll never get to see Heath's Joker in another film:csad:

Agree with you, particularly on number one. I think, judging by the way Joker acts in TDK, he would've seen the fear gas as something genuinely funny. And why was he (Crane/Scarecrow) in with the fake Batmen in the first place?

Although had Heath lived and they made a third film, he probably would've had as much screentime as Cillian did in TDK. Just a guess, heck, they might've made the Joker a supporting role in the story outline for the third flick before Ledger died... as Heath had signed a two-picture deal prior to shooting TDK.

Another small complaint is the musical score. I've heard that TDK was a significant improvement over BB in terms of composition, but other than the Harvey/Two-Face theme and the Joker motif, it seemed like Zimmer and Howard just regurgitated and reorchestrated the family/love theme and the two-note Batman theme. And almost none of the action scenes were scored -- I wanted a "Molossus"-styled score for the Batpod chase scene!

Other than those complaints, it was a VERY strong film -- those flaws I can easily overlook.

Nobody questioned why he runs in a costume.

The lack of fear comes from fear expiring...fear doesn't last when it is expected that Batman is going to beat up the bad guys. It's accepted. People will joke around about anybody when they're not around as well, but when the time comes...it's a whole different story.

Villains were not intimidated by Batman often in the comic books, cartoons, and BB.

By the way, this thread is disappointing.

This isn't a disappointment, but a complaint or a question of some sort........

What the hell was up with the Mayor and wearing eyeliner?????????????????????
Actually I think it's because the actor has long eyelashes which make it look like eyeliner, I've seen him in TV shows and he looks like that.

I thought the editing was a little confusing sometimes and I wish Bruce would've mentioned his parents at least once. There's not even a picture of them anywhere. But other then that it was great. The pencil trick was better then all of Iron Man.

No mention of Bruce's parents.
No sneak peak or anything for the Batcave.

I noticed this as well and Burton and Schumacher did the exact same thing. Their first films deals with Bruce and his parents, while the second has no mention of them whatsoever. But as a reviewer once pointed out, it can get very redundant when our main character is moping around about his dead parents in every film.

For what the movie aims to be, I have no disappointments at all.

A few minor flaws here and there, but honestly, I feel that some of you guys are picking on the wrong flaws. I can't be bothered to mention what they were.

If you know what the aim of the movie is, you'd feel pretty satisfied.
